Babybear on the move again. Hi All you Wonderful Furparents: This is me Babybear again. Just letting you all know mom took me out today for a long walk about 45 minutes. And I wanted to tell you my Dogster page has new video on it wiff me walking wiffout a leash. Yippee. If you check it out mom would like to know if anyone has any idea's how to get me to go right in me cart. Mom talked to Eddie's wheels and they said I may not be able to go right do to how my injury was. I am really wucky to be walkin to begin wiff. Mom has tried to make me walk toward our driveway where I have ta walk right to get to it but me still goes left. Please take a minute and check out me dogster page and see what me and mom mean. I hope me is not boaring you all to death wiff me videos and me updates.:D Here is me dogsterpage:: http://www.dogster.com/dogs/136060 Vank you for checking me out. |
Wow, he looks like he is really enjoying his wheels..... Almost looks like you have on a Hawkeye jacket....:) |
I'm glad you are doing sooo good. Big hugs and keep up the good work. :animal36 |
Ahhh Hi, little baby bear:) You are to sweet:) We could never get bored watching you;) |
He looked like he was enjoying himself:) |
Please Idea's on how to get him to go right or to go straight. And suggestions. Oh he is not food motivated. Sorry. |
Babybear you look fantastic. Maybe you should talk to the acupuncturist about what it might take for Babybear to go in the correct direction - will it be asking to much of him to accomplish that. What about a narrow sidewalk or path? |
In a narrow area he would have to try and move the front of his cart. He is not front strong he is back strong so I do not know how this will work. I really wish I could say it would work. I will give it a try and see. That is all I can do. If it works then Great Idea if it doesn't i am sure we will think of something else. I so wish he was food motivated. He is not even toy motivated. He is people motivated. And I do not always have people around. Maybe I should bring him to a mall outside mall and let him see people. They have sidewalks there. |
What if his front wheels were like on a shopping cart where they could go all the way around in circles. I dont know how to explain it very good, but it looks like he is not strong enough, but if the wheels turned freely in front maybe he could do it??? |

When he was swimming in the pool it was always to the left also. I will be talking to his Doc to see if we can do some acupuncture on the right side to make it work better. I know he tries hard my vet does to get him going. I am just hoping we dont just have a lefty here. but then again I am to thank my lucky stars i have Babybear at all. |
There has to be a way. Like maybe a caster on just one side, or a smaller wheel on one side? But which? We need an engineer or someone with more smarts than me:D He is doing so good. Just needs some fine tuning! |

Yay!!! Another Babybear progress page! Val! Look at the progress he has made in just 2 short weeks! I think it is nothing short of amazing. Way to go little guy!:thumbup::thumbup: Now as for the turning problem; I've been giving that a thought. I know that when he walks, his front legs kind of cross over, so it would be very hard for him to achieve a change of direction using them. However, what if the front wheels were more like those on a skate board - they never actually turn, but are attached in such a way that weight or leaning, causes a change of direction?? So, if Babybear leaned slightly to the right, the cart would then turn in that direction? You would have to ask Eddie if this would be feasible. Just an idea mind you, I am not sure this would work. Also, it would not be effective if the wheels "swiveled" like those of a grocery cart, because Babybear is NOT capable of THAT degree of control, and it could cause him to either go in a circle, or make a very sudden change of direction that could hurt those fragile bones. Val, his video is just so very encouraging. I know that all this little guy needs is YOU. What you have done for him is nothing short of amazing. How's the sinus infection? Hope those meds banished it totally and that you had a great weekend. Big, big hugs, Lauren:ghug: |

And my meds are finally starting to work. They are causing a head ache but I can breath. I can bend down without my nose running. And I do not need a tissue in my hand 24/7. I actually slept through the night last night no waking to take benydril. I was thrilled until my husband woke me at 6:30 to tell me to get up so we could go say good bye to his parents before they left for Florida. Today was my day off. I was going to get some rest. I guess not.lol Big hugs to you Lauren. |
What an amazing story. I just got done reading and watching all Babybears videos on his Dogster page. You 2 are so lucky to have each other! This is the first I have heard about Babybear and I will now look forward to seeing new updates on him! He sure is a cutie too! |
What if you checked with Eddie's Wheels and see if making one wheel larger than the other would help him steer straighter? Since he's pulling to the left, if you make the left wheel larger, it should steer him more to the right.... I think.... |
Thank you all for your nice comments about my little sugar pie and myself. I have forgot to mention. I am in the process of looking into adoption a special needs Yorkie. After I get all the info on him and talk to hubby I will then go through the process. I am hoping where I have the experiance with Babybear that they will concider me. I will keep you all updated on the goings on with this little guy. I think rehabing two with problems will be good they can encourage each other. It is just convincing hubby of the thought. The other pup is less then a year old and was hit by a car at 5 months the owners left him at the vets office and said they could not pay for medical expenses to put him down. this nice rescue and it is not a yorkie rescue took him in and has been working with surgeries and such for this little guy. He ended up with a broken pelvis, broken toes and also a broken front leg. I hope his healing has gone well. He according to the site should be now close to 11 months old. I am waiting now for all the info. I do not know how long it takes to get this, but being very patient.(NOT!!!) My dream is to win the lottery(hmm everyone's dream) and open a rescue for disabled dogs. That is my dream. I do not want a big house and fancy things I would be completely happy with a rescue. Well, i think I have gotten off the subject here. Sorry all. |

You have me crying. You always have such kind words to say. Thank you very much. Well, I have been waiting to hear back from the rescue, but they still have not written me back. I am going to write them another letter tonight and try again. One problem I might have is I have two big dogs. Some rescues do not like that. But if they see how gentle Bubba and Bud are with Babybear then maybe they can make an exception. I just wrote to another rescue here in my home state about a little girl yorkie mix but adoption is pending. I told them if for any reason that adoption does not go through to please let me know. I do not know if you have see Babybear's new video on his dogster page from Monday he is really cruising now. I am trying to upload today's video but the darn computer keeps freezing. I have to just upload and leave my computer because I like to do to many things while it is uploading and I think it gets confused.lol Well, I have to run to get this thing loaded and go watch Ghost hunters with Babybear.lol He is waiting for me next to the nice warm wood stove. Thank you again Lauren for all your kind words. And please if anyone wants to give out Babybear's dogster page for friends or family to see feel free to. I really want people to know about this congenital defect so no one will have to go through everything we have had to endure with our little guy. Thank you. |
I always look for BabyBear updates. I can never get enough of this handsome boy's progress! Lucy sends you a big kiss BabyBear! |
We are on our way to add a new video to his dogster page right now. It is all up and loaded onto you tube so we are off to put it on dogster. |
