Whenever I've gone out and seen somebody with cute little furbaby, it never even crosses my mind to ask them how much they paid for him/her. I personally think it's quite rude. It makes me uncomfortable whenever somebody asks. Some people react with the impression "OMG, why would you ever pay that much for a dog?!"...even though I paid the normal going rate for Yorkies around here. Does this happen to a lot of Yorkie owners? I've gone out in public with my cousin's chihuahua and nobody ever asked how much he cost. Is this just a Yorkie thing? | I only had one pretty young couple ask me this question in a parking lot. I didn't mind telling them as they had just started looking and were concerned at to whether they were being "had". When you haven't looked for pure breds much and you see some of the paper prices, and then check out the good breeder prices, I can see why there would be cause for concern.
A good answer without telling them to the dime how much you paid for your particular dog would be...good ones are usually over 1,000.00, but check the person out if they are selling at that price or higher. |
