I use to feed mine those treats, until I found out they were made in China!!! Thats soo scary!! I think you should def call smokehouse so everyone can know about this!! I am glad that shes ok. |
oh wow how scary!!!! thank God she's ok now!!! The problem with some treats is that our babies don't chew them, they try to just swallow, and it can be very dangerous. |
i swear i almost had an anxiety attack just reading ur post nevermind experiencing it! you handled it wonderfully. thanks so much for the heads up about this product. i am so glad Kalina is doing well again. that is sooo scary i feel so sorry for you going through that! hope ur finger feels better too<33 |
SO glad Kalina is ok!!!!! I wish her the best, and mom, go take a nice relaxing bubble bath! |
Poor thing, I"m so glad she is okay! I actually bought some of those recently to give to my bigger dog, but gave some to Slade as well and didn't even think about him possibly choking on them. But then when I found out they were made in China (why didn't I check before I bought them?), they went into the trash! |
OMG... Thats scary.. I hope she is feeling better today. And thank you sooo much for sharing this with us. so the same thing doesn't happen to our babies . |
Petsmart had pulled these off the shelves - all Smokehouse - for a while bc they thought there might be something wrong with them and just recently has put them back. I am so glad that Kalina is ok. Big hugs to both of you. |
Oh what a horrible experience. I'm so glad you thought quickly. FYI if something like that ever happens again you need to do the Heimlich maneuver on her to try to dislodge the item. You're so lucky that when you pushed it down you didn't cause a blockage further down. I'm so glad your baby is okay! |
OMG that is so horrible. You poor thing, and Kalina too of course. Here's a super big })})})})}})HUG{({({({({({ from me to you and })})})})}SMOOCHES({({({({({({ from Koda to Kalina. You both need and deserve them. I am so happy the ending was good. |
Sookie, I'm not trying to scare you but did you call your vet? When something is loged in the throat it can go one of two ways: into the stomach or into the lungs. I would call your vet and see if he wants to xray her lungs-more than likely it went to her stomach but I feel with these little ones you have to be soooo careful. |
I'm so sorry this happened to you and your fur baby, but thank you for posting this thread. Someone might have purchased this product unknowingly putting their fur kid in danger...you may have saved a few fur kids lives! I hope all is well with you and your fur baby now! :) |
I'm just now seeing this and can hardly breathe feeling your fear. You did a GREAT job of not only saving her, but not wrecking your car or hurting someone else in the midst of it. Your story had a happy ending thank God. And thanks to the gardner too. Does she have any tummy troubles from swallowing that whole? I know that certain kinds of treats are more dangerous than others, but your story is also a good time to remind ourselves that treat our pups when going into their kennel to make sure that they eat the treat and are fine before leaving them. Glad you're all fine............ |
sounds to me like you did everything right!:) i think having a dog thats choking is worse then a child, only because with a child we know what to do and on dogs heimlich doesnt really work. you did great gald to hear your fur baby is fine now:) |
So glad everything turned out alright. It's the most scariest thing ever! :( When we first got Lilly we were giving her some treats we had gotten at Wal-mart and she ended up choking on one of them one night and stopped breathing and my boyfriend got her breathing again and we immediately rushed her to the emergency vet just to be on the safe side. Now, we only buy treats that you can tear into smaller pieces. Lilly also just layed on my lap all night long after it happened... I really think it took a lot out of her. |
OMG!!!!!! I just bought these treats for Toby:eek:  well I know where they are going now..straight in the trash.:thumbdown Thank you so much for the heads up. |
