Tried it, she doesn't give a hoot about it on the harness. That is the only time Bitter Apple doesn't have an effect on her. |
Maximus like bitter apple spray...Dessert!!!...thanks mom..bite bite bite!!! |
haha...that's definetely original Maximus. I know what to get you now for your birthday! |
LOL..he won't eat half the crappin treats I buy him...BUT he likes: His own poop..YUM!!!, Bitter Apple, Bitter Lime (the alternative), tobasco sauce.."nope not hot at all...just small licks mom..see!!!", paper...what's not to love???, Outdoor bugs..crunchy and delicious..shall I go on???? |
Haha, Maximus cracks me up. They all have an obsession with paper and kleenex for some odd reason. I can't believe he likes Tabasco sauce...haha..I wonder why he eats his own poo??!! |
Oh..I got him out of that now...but my vet said it's a puppy thing, I used to pour meat tenderizer ON IT..that he didn't like..lol..and now he won't go near his poo..other then to sometimes move it onto the pad and try to collect a treat...I've seen him do that 3x when he thought I wasn't looking..GROSS..why not just do it there in the first place???? Oh...and one day when you need like 2 mintutes alone..give COCO a empty toilet paper roll or Paper towel roll cut in half..they think they WON the lottery I swear..lol..but you have to take it away or they will eat it..lol |
EWW, I'm just glad Coco didn't do the poop eating (well at least not yet). Once she poo's she darts away from it like it's going to bite her rear. She sneezes when it's near her, like it smells really bad...haha |
Maximus' poo does smell really bad..lol..IMO..and lately he has started farting..gross..lol |

My chihuahua and I got into quite a round with the harness and collar.....and she did finally bite me and it was a bad bite and it hurt!!!! Thankfully...2 days later I found Cesar Millan..The Dog Whisperer on NGEO channell and the first show was about some horrible, biting, snarling chihuahua... That show changed everything about how I deal with my dogs...it absolutley worked wonders for the chi and now for Lil Bit....they are dogs...no matter what anyone else says...and I love them to death....but they are dogs and I AM THE BOSS!!!!! The chi still does not "like" to have the harness put on....but I just 'do it' and that is it...after our big round and biting...i started putting the harness off and on and off and on and off 2-3 times per day for about 3 weeks....just to show her who was the boss.....if I even think she is anywhere near close to thinking about biting I hold her firmly down and so "NO"!! I do have to fumble with the latch...but she sits there....sometimes shaking....but she lets me do it!!!! Good Luck...and "BE THE BOSS"...... ...it's just a little tiny dog! :rollingey |
Hey nobella per our PM Check out this thread if you want to find something cheap http://yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10184 |
Thanks! Yea I wasn't about to pay $60 for a harness, I'd rather buy her 5 dresses :p |
You know what..I bought Maximus' at Petsmart for like $12.00 BUT before that I bought one at Puppia for like $30.00 plus shipping and the crappin' thing is too big (I am hoping he grows into it)..but the small is like Huge on him..I wish I would of just bought him the palin black xs under 6lb one initially..because that one is still slightly too big adjustable and all but it works and it was only 12.00 |
I have recommended the step in harness for circumstances like these. When my dogs are REALLY small, I use a leather lizard step-in harness. You just have to stick their front legs thru the leg holes and pull a slip cord or clip..And so far, I have not found a baby(brat) who is too much to handle when using them..Good Luck!!!!! |
i just got Asia a step in harness at Petsmart. It was less than $15.00. She didn't get upset when I put the old harness on. she tried to chew on it when I put it over head. Plus she could get her chin under it while on and chew on it. If I made it any tighter I was afraid I was going to choke her. She still tries to chew on this one but it is quicker to get on. I'm tring to teach her that when we are going somewhere I say "hook up" while I put on the harness so she knows it means we are going out. Hopefully she will learn not to play with it and let me put it on fast. |
haha this thread is great. i too am having these problems. although Bailey is still to small to go outside but i wanted to prepare him for when we can go on walks. when i put it on him he trys to escape because he would rather play then be sat down. once it is finally on him he does a complete 180. he turns into poor lil' me dog. runs around the house on his neck like they do when they just had a bath and then goes to sleep. its the same thing when i put a shirt on him. and when he sees the harness in my hand he lays down to go to sleep almost as if it is a punishment to mellow out. last night i put his new pretty collor on him while we were sitting on the couch and it was the same drama. he looks up at me like he is about to be murdered and i can help but laugh and love him :) i just figured i should do this maybe once a day or a few times a week and get him used to it. |
