SHOCKED...Maxx May Not Have Died!! Scammed!?! I went on PuppyFind last night and clicked on My Favorites to see if the breeder in which I was getting my angel Maxx from sold the other pups they had and to my utter horror, shock, and pain I saw on a listing for a female pup one of the photos of my angel baby Maxx!!! The EXACT same photo!! And then on another listing they have for a female I found similar photos (same background, puppy features...ect.) of the very same ones they sent to me of Maxx. I also saw some of the same photos listed on their "new" pups as they had on the listings for their previous pups. How horrible is THAT!! I feel like my heart got ripped out again!! I asked 101 questions when they sent me "updated" photos of Maxx at the time and he looked totally different. They tried to reassure me that it was the same pup and my hubby even pointed out that I may just be paranoid, but after you sit for hours, staring at photos of your baby and dreaming of holding him, you realize the differences when they are present. Supposedly the man is a judge and I made mention of the fact that I am pursuing my law degree...may have deterred them away from scamming me but I'll never know the truth. Two days after all my questions I got the news Maxx died. Despite my outrage and hurt I like to take some reassurance in thinking that Maxx didn't really die but went to someone else who asked less questions about the pup they were supposed to be getting. I wonder what pup we would've discovered at the airport in Philly had they sent us one. I even take some comfort in thinking that the puppy I fell in love with in the photos wasn't even "Maxx" at all but just photos of a pup that they use repeatedly to scam people into buying their dogs. I am sooo mad right now but am trying to see the bright side of things; My angel baby Maxx may not be dead and I now have my handsome little Piper Cub. Never again will I trust someone I don't know like that on the Internet. How cruel!!! I feel so violated and hurt. I just hope my Maxx is really OK...wherever he may be. |
That is horrible! I would pursue it if I was you. You wouldn't want someone else to go through what you went through with those horrible people. You should e-mail them as someone else and see if they will respond with Maxx's pictures. But I am glad you have your baby with you! :p |
I am so sorry to hear that you were scammed in this way. As much as we would all like to believe in the good in everyone sometimes peope's greed takes over! At least you can take some "comfort" in the fact that your baby Maxx probably didn't die and maybe wasn't even the puppy they had earmarked for you. I sounded fishy at the time and you were so right to discontinue your dealings with them. I would be bold and angry enough to call them and ask what gives since seeing those pics just for the fun of it! If you do, please share with us what they say. |
that is teriable!!! you went through all of that pain and grief and for what!? maybe nothing!!!!! i am sooooo mad right now!!!! i would defenatly do something if i were you! |
Not Sure I'm not sure what to do. I definetely don't want somebody else going through what I went through but even if I called them on it I'm not sure it would make a difference. They'll still sell their puppies and rope people in anyway they can. People like that are heartless and have no consideration for themselves, others, or the poor puppies they are selling. I found out afterwards that they had like 200 adults...puppy mill probably. And if Maxx did get sick (whoever Maxx was) that's why, because with that many dogs, not counting the poor puppies, I'm sure they're not getting the proper care. I don't even want to speak to those people right now or possibly ever again. The hurt and pain they caused me then and now still makes my stomach hurt. |
I agree with SoCalyorkiLvr, I would call & tell them about seeing "Maxx's picture" AFTER they informed you of his death. Would be interesting to see what they had to say! Maybe they would think twice before doing this again to someone else - who knows!!! |
Wow! I am really sorry that this happened to you! Some people are just cruel! |
Guess we were posting at the same time. The only reason I would call them is to let them know you are aware of their scam & will spread the word about their dealings!!! People need to be "called out" when found out! IMO - but I can certainly understand your not wanting to have anything else to do with them. |

If it were me, I would let them know that I am a member of a forum dedicated to Yorkies with over 3000 members and that I have a VERY BIG MOUTH!!!!!!!! |
I would do the same and tell them that you will have them investigated if they don't stop what they are doing! |
I'm really sorry about this - I remember you posting about him.... There are LOTS of internet sites that do this - some are actually caught but not before countless people are scammed out of their money and their puppy - Tiny Darlings is a HUGE example of this scam. She broke hearts all over the country before they actually did something about it - I doubt she really ever got punished though - it's very hard to get these nasty people to make good on their contracts. Those people dont care - they just want to make a fast buck and that's why researching internet breeders/websites is so very important - you almost can't do enough research before going to these places. You have a new baby and I'm so glad for you - if you still have the original pictures ...and know the location of the new listings - you CAN report this...I would. If anything - the more people who report these internet scammers - the better chance there is of someone finally going after them. |
What is their site???? I would like to know for my own purposes! We are always talking about what we can DO to shut down puppy mills... we can all certainly drop them a line to let them know what they did and that if we are ever asked for a referral, we will keep how they do business in mind! We don't have to use the term "puppy mill", but we can sure let them know that we are aware that they are scam artists! |
I am so sorry you are going thru this. I can't tell you what to do but my little horns would go up and I would get even! I would put yeast on it and make it grow! I would tell them I belong to a number of yorkie forums and the lowest membership in all of them is 2500 and I have a big mouth and if they don't stop what they are doing I would got tell it on the mountain! Word of mouth can hurt them a lone! This just pisses me off! |
What?! I can't believe this! We were all so heartbroken for your loss. I can't believe that there are people out there that can be so minipulative!! Urgh! If you look at the bright side though, your "Maxx" (if there even was such a dog) may still be living, and without all of this you wouldn't have found Piper... |
Well Thats all the reason i did not think ever about buying a puppy on a computer. You not ordering a purse or a pair of shoes. Your purchasing a animal that has a heartbeat and a mind of its own. My girlfriend told me about puppyfind, and told me to buy pixie from there. I was like no way !!!!!!! thats crazy!!! why you ask? maybe because all your seeing is a picture. Your not getting to see its personality on the loose. When I saw my baby at the pet shop i just knew i had to have her. It was the most wonderful feeling to know you made the right decision. I had her walk around the store to make sure she walked ok . I played with her to make sure she was healthy. these are all things you cant see on a picture. take it as a blessing ! had you bought it that way you could have been very disappointed and that really sucks |
All I can say is I am sorry that this has happened to you... I am shocked that anyone would do this to a person, and if they are doing this, I can't imagine what else they are doing... |

This is just an example of why I caution people about internet sites and puppy shopping. While there may be good reputable breeders out there with sites there are many more whom are not reputable. The good ones don't need to sell or list themselves on sites like puppyfind. |
Maxx 5 Attachment(s) I thought I'd share with you guys what I am talking about. I tried to put the links up to the two pups on PuppyFind.com that I am referring to but everytime I click on it to see if it works it says the listings have been deleted, but they are still on there. So if you're interested you will have to go to PuppyFind.com and go to Yorkies and search by birthdate. They are listed as 10 weeks old with a D.O.B. of 4-13-2005. I checked and the page was 102 but with new entries all the time this will change, but they'll be around that general area. Look for Princess and Kristyl. If you find one and then click on the name of the breeder it'll show all the other pups they have listed. They don't have a website. They only use PuppyFind. When you find Princess, which was the first listing that I shockingly discovered late last night, compare the fourth photo from the left with the one of Maxx below. It is the EXACT same photo I had saved from Maxx's listing. Then look at the listing of Kristyl. Surpisingly the fourth and fifth photos look exactly like the dog that I received photos of in an email from this person. Sorry for all the trouble of finding the listings but this is the only way I know to get you guys there. Anyone who saw Maxx's listing and then saw these pups would know it's the same pics and puppy. I received more photos in the email but these were the most significant. And then 5 days after these were supposedly taken, on May 24th and 25th, his wife emails me photos of "Maxx" and they are of a completely different looking puppy that grew A LOT in only 5 days, that's when I started asking even more questions. Two days later I was told Maxx died. How can people live with themselves?!?...I think I'll "kiss" Piper's breeder next time I see her. |

That looks like the same puppy to me. i went to the website and it looks like your pictures of Maxx! |
I am so sorry that someone would play with your emotions like that. Those people are sick. I think it is good that you didn't get a dog from them though because you probably would of ended up with a very sick puppy. That does not surprize me about the reusing of the photos since someone on here mentioned people stealing pics and using them on websites. Who knows photos of our babies could turn up on a website from a puppy broker with no puppies on hand to show. There also was a scam of a woman that did not even have dogs or puppies but was on line taking cash for puppies. They saw pics of someone's puppies. It also reminds me of a time when I was talking to a guy in a chat room. He was going on and on about a Catherine who lived in Virgina and how he had fallen hard for her. He asked me if I would like to see her pics. I told him to go ahead and send the pics of his new love. The pics were of me. Small world hu? I had to send him simular pics, same livingroom, same yard, same outfit different day to convince him that it was me and not this woman whom he has been talking with long distance for several months. She confessed her plan was to never meet him but that she liked his phone calls. Sad hu? |

I must of missed the 200 adults part... that is an incredible amt of dogs, and doesn't sound like a reputable place at all. Be thankful you didn't get your dog there, chances are it wouldn't of been healthy, there is no way to have that many dogs and be able to take care of them all, unless you have a HUGE staff. I know your heart was broken, and I am sorry for that. |
I'm really sorry that you went through this ordeal. It's very disturbing. Some good has come from it... 1. Your Max didn't die. It's probably a picture of a dog who is fully grown now. 2. You got a great dog instead of a dog with problems and the added expense and heartache that would follow. 3 . You learned a lesson about the buying over the internet. 4. You've taught thousands of people about your experience. I think we need to expose these people whenever we get a chance so others don't have to go through what you did or worse! |
Maxx It was good you found this out now. Now you can breathe easier knowing that Maxx probaly isn't dead. What scum bags! I almost tripped up and bought a dog on the internet myself on Next Day pets. I'm glad I found a breeder before that happened. People can be so cruel... |
Im so sorry that this has happened to you. Most likely the pic of "Max" is one of the pics thet reuse to missrepresent their pups. I know you thought your baby Max died and you grieve his dead and all. But you are lucky you didnt ended up buying from those people. I dont know if informing that website will do anything but you can try and make them stop allowing them to advertise their pups there. JMO. Be happy that you have a beautiful and healthy puppy. |
I agree that the photos look like the same puppy. So sorry that these horrible people put you through this. Hugs to you and congrats that you now have a precious baby to love. I had someone also contact me from a site with a picture they claimed to be a female they were selling. I later saw the same exact picture of the puppy on another ad saying it was a male for sale. This person also posted about the pup being theirs on YorkieTalk and was called out by another member about the pictures. They then said the pictures were stolen, which I do not believe. Its sad that there are jerks out there that do this to unsuspecting inoccent people. |
I think those people are the lowest of the low.. it's ALL about MONEY! Think they care about these babies? I think not..! |
This makes me sick. It is hard to find honest people I guess. What a terrible lie to tell someone...saying he was dead. That is terrible. |
Some people play with others emotions. It is just so sad! At least you have a baby that you know is healthy, only God knows what could have happened if you would have bought from them. |
