she doesnt look like a redlegged to me either! may i ask what you are feeding her and/or what kind of shampoos and conditioners you are using??? just let us know so we can help you. |
Tilly is still beautiful. Red legged or not. When your pup gives you a big lick on the face it does not matter what Tilly's coat looks like.:aimeeyork |
Sorry about not answering your questions sooner Ive been at work. I use Chris Christensen after bath on her and ice on ice. I also use cowboy magic. So only good quality stuff. I feed her eukanuba food, is that alright? Im in New Zealand so we may not have the same food as you in America, but the one im feeding is suppose to be good. The vet didnt call it Redleg he called it short hair syndrome. I just thought that might be what you call it (redleg). Her head hair will not be affected just her limbs and body. He said they start out with a normal puppy coat that as it grows it snaps off at about 6 months on and never grows again. We dont have missing link in NZ. |
She doesn't look like a redleg to me either. Eukanuba is not a good food, maybe it is good but there are a lot of better food out there. I am not sure what brands you have in New Zealand but if you can find them, try Canidae, Orijen or Innova. Those are some brands that my puppy have tried and did well on it. |

What a great group here, you all never cease to amaze me with your kindness. I think that a better quality food and some missing link are a good start. I agree with the others that she does not look like a red leg so you may still have a chance at getting a long coat like you desire. And even if not, she is beautiful |

I really hope that the missing link and a better food would help. Still, your baby is beautiful and short hair will not affect her beauty. A lot of people here cut their babies hair short, specially in the body, to avoid matts. |

She doesn't look red legged to me either. Flax seed oil is very good for the coat. I personally would cut her down (not her face) and start over and see what happens. This could very easily be a lack of a needed vitamin. Bloodwork can tell. You may also want to ask your vet about an allergy screen. There may be something in her food that is causing this. So many things to rule out... What do you wash your bedding in? What kind of brush do you use. All these things come into play when trying to figure this out. Either way, she is adorable long coat or not. |
