Babbie...the AKC is not governed by the FCI, so I do not see them making it illegal in the near future. I would have no problem if everyone stopped...

This is a very interesting thread!!! I have a question, hope it doesn't sound too stupid. I was wondering if someone could explain to me what the ear would look like if it was cropped and how the procedure is done!!! To be honest, i have never heard of this and kinda wish i never did. I am just wondering if my boy had this done!!! His tail was docked and dewclaws were removed so who knows maybe he had this done too. :(

Dewclaws being removed & the docking of the tail are very common in the yorkie breed. Ear cropping is not done in this breed.

You may not have heard of it but you've definity seen it. Most Dobermans and Schnauzers in this country have cropped ears.

I know that AKC doesn;t abide by the FCI standards...but if FCI does ban the docking/copping it will put breeder/showers in a difficult situation if AKC keeps it a necessity...they be only able to show at akc competitions or any other kennel club not affiliated to FCI.

I finally read the post that Gus and Cruiser are brothers. I didn't realize there wereso many posts on this thread so I didn't finish reading ALL of them...Da Cruise Man is way too cute and is still under 3 lbs.. But, we don't tell him he is NOT a Doberman..Matter of fact, we don't tell him he is not a hooman!!! His widdle feewins would be sooooo huwt!

YorkieRose and those who breed - If someone planned to purchase one of your puppies from you, would you agree to not dock their tail if that's what the owner wanted?

The problem is that when the puppies are very young, a breeder cannot tell which ones will be show quality and which will be pets. Docking, if it’s going to be done, should be done at a young age. So the breeder winds up having to dock all the dogs tails

I, as a breeder, would NOT even consider allowing someone to visit my babies at 1-3 days of age. Selecting one at that age is unthinkable. So, I would have a litter whose tails I would dock. I LOVE really long tails so I dock them to a longer length than most vets do. When I have agreed to buy a litter from a breeder-friend, I ask that they have the tails really LONG. In WV it seems that they dock the tails about half the length that I like. So, no matter what I ask they still have shorter tails than I like..
As for pics of my lover boy, Cruiser. I have no idea how to post pics(I am almost embarrassed to say that I really don't have a lot of interest in learning--my bad!). One of my puppy pics was used in a scam--a scammer post a pic of Remi and didn't even bother to change the background which is my family room hardwood floor. Also, said she was expecting a litter of 4 who would look just like her boy. Turns out, she had NO dogs so she used foreign dogs' pics as parents...and so on. Needless to say, her butt is in a whole bunch of trouble..And, she was asking only $3500.00 to reserve your puppy!!! So, I will send pics to anyone who sends me their e-ail addy. I will give permission to post his pic.

I am intersted in getting a Biewer in the next few months to a year or so. Erin (itspuppyluv) sent me pics of Gus Gus because I would like to have something to "compare" to my potential puppy. also, I just think they are the most adorable things in the world :)
