OMG Hairless Yorkie listed as Rare... I just can't believe this ad! Someone will probably try to breed him too, trying to get more like him! Notice how big his Mom is too; Really sad! :( http://www.buypuppiesdirect.com/?a=2&b=96199 |
He just looks shaved to me. |
Looks like the dog had some sort of problem and they shaved down the hair to the skin. Also how did they come up with the handy dandy price of $1395. |
This picture was in another thread recently.......... http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=98834 |
Sadly, someone will probably buy it at that price  |
Wow so they are trying to capitalize on a disease that a dog is afflicted with. Can people get any worse and disgusting in this lifetime. Never mind not breeding this dog further and not creating anymore of these babies. They are trying to see if they can take this mutation (no offense to the baby) and make him some sort of hip and trendy purchase. God help us when there are scumbags like that running around. |

:goodpost: They are breeding a 2 1/2- 3 pound female and selling her poor little puppy who appears to be born with a genetic defect as "rare". Sickening. |

What is this world coming to ? People are so greedy as to stoop to this ? |
That is really sad.:( |

This condition is called "Color dilution aloplecia". I saw one on a website someone posted here and the website claimed it was a Chocolate. NOT, NOT, NOT! |
never seen a hairless chocolate. |

I know chocolates are not hairless...I was poking fun at the fact that someone would try and say that it was the case and that is why the dog was rare and not actually have something wrong with it. |
Rare I cannot believe the AKC is allowing this. I currently have a litter of 3 of these puppies. While a couple of the pictures may depict color dilution alopecia, the third picture is without a doubt a puppy with hypotrichosis. In the last 2 weeks I have researched just about everything available on this disease, and YES, it is a disease. It is a disease that is carried by the females and passed on generally to the males. Females normally have full coats, while most males will be born with the alopecia. According to my vet, who says this is rare and has been doing research for me also, there are other health problems these puppies may have or develop. First, the hairless spots will NEVER develop hair and the skin must be carefully watched for exposure to sun and cold. Unless proper care is given to the skin for exposure, the puppies can develop sores which can become not only infected but quite odorous as well. Some puppies are born without claws and may never develop their teeth. I am currently in the process of reporting this breeder to the ACA, which is where my female is registered. People PLEASE don't buy these puppies. If you promised to give one a good home and take proper care of the "bald" spots, I would gladly GIVE you one!! We are not breeders, and can't possibly keep 5 dogs. I know, everyone wants to see pictures, I have tried and tried and cannot figure out how to upload my pictures to the computer to post or e-mail them. I admit, I'm a true dummy when it comes to this stuff. What I would do if you are truly interested, serious inquiries only, is do it the old fashioned way and mail you pictures. I can't do this for hundreds of people though, so if you are only curious about their looks, please don't ask. Can't someone please tell us how to stop these people? |
Could be worse...they could be advertising it as a "Designer Hypoallergenic Yorkie." |

You cannot stop them, as long as people think rare is a good thing they will never stop. Frankly, I think the beautiful blue and gold yorkshire terrier, the correct breed colors, is the "rarity" these days..:scratchhe Let me be sure to add this is JMHO. |
Not gonna lie though I would love to have an all gold and a chocolate myself. I do love my black and tan girlie but the two other colors are so cute. As for this special one here definitely think I would not spend money on one or fall for the "it's a special and rare find". |

You shouldn't have to ask how big it will be or what color it will be or if the ears will stand or worry so much about the physical characteristic of the dog as an adult. Those things should be a given, not a cause of concern because of rampant poor breeding. |
this is so interesting... |

Is there a such thing as a hairless yorkie? |
Is this the same as Blue born that has been talked about before on this site? |
I think they bred a Yorkshire Terrier with a Chinese Crested (http://www.ckc.ca/en/Default.aspx?ta...BreedCode=CIC). It has the same hair on the knees and elbows)! |
When I look into that puppy's eyes my heart just about breaks. |
Wow...This is unreal to me. Just when you think breeders cannot get much worse, they actually promote a disease as a good thing...YIKES! |
Awww, I want him now. Price is a little steep for a dog that may cost thousands in vet bills. I notice there is no health-guarantee on this baby. That skin is going to need very special care! :( Poor baby, I wish I could take one. I can't get another dog until next fall. *stomps feet* |
I'm sickened that someone would use another default as a selling tool! And to charge THAT much for one? But I cannot believe I actually now know of another hairless yorkie...Bella's going to be so upset now that she's not the only one :( |
