Potty Outside followed by Potty Inside! What am I doing wrong here? He will go out and pee and poop and then come right back in and pee on my carpet. Sometimes he even manages to squeeze out a little more poop! ARGH! What gives? I will let him out of his crate for play time after he goes outside. After he eats, he goes back in the crate until time for a potty break and then he gets play time. The peeing all over the house is much more out of control than the poop thing. |
His scent is in your carpet. A male dog can squeeze a dribble out numerous times. You will need to have your carpet professionally cleaned to remove the scent. Take him outside on a leash, to ensure that he is totally emptying his system. Back inside for his meal. Watch him, (even if you have to put up a baby gate). After about 10 to 15 minutes after he eats, it's back outside on a leash. After playtime, its the same thing. I only use the crate at night, and take Maggie out during the day after she eats, sleeps or plays. If I can't watch her every move, then I put her in her exercise enclosure. |
I had a rough time wee wee pad training my Yorkie, Katie. (Potty training my Maltese, Codie, was a breeze!) Katie was constantly peeing and pooping on my leather couch. What I eventually did was put up a baby gate to block her (and Codie) from going in the living room during the day while I am not home. My dogs do not have complete reign on my house when I am not home. I always leave the bathroom and bedroom door closed. I was allowing them into the living room when I was not home up until Katie started leaving me little stinky presents on the couch. ;) But now Katie is totally potty trained - thank god! I would recommend that you get her an exercise pen - I am not a big fan of crates. An exercise pen will give your baby lots of room to move around w/out having the run of the house. You can get really inexpensive exercise pens from www.petedge.com and www.petsmart.com. Good luck! :animal-sm |
I too , find our yorkie Chester was harder to train then our maltese chelsey and chester came trained to go outside when we got him. He still had lots of accedents on our carpet. first you will need to remove all the pee scent and clean your carpet. We do do let our puppies have free run of our home. They are crate trained. We also have a play pen for them too. Everytime you let puppy out of ther crate they have to go straing out side... until they are fully trained. That way he will get the idea that out side is potty time. I guess what you could try is take him for his walk , then when you return put him back in his crate for 5 to ten min.. Then let him outside again. It took chester a 1 1/2year to be fully trained and he still had tiny accients but that's when he is sick. He can hold it for 8 hours and knows not to go on the carpet. |
