Change in Personality???
 
Buster is 6 months old and has been an absolute pleasure - potty training has gone fine (with a few slip ups but nothing big) he gets along well with people - hes great on walking - hes well - so far so good. But for the past couple of days he has been acting weird - we will be playing and then all of a sudden he backs up and crouches in what I feel looks like "attack mode" and shows his teeth and growls. When I try to approach him he growls even louder and tries to bite me. At first I thought he was just "play" fighting? But not it seems like it's getting worse. He will jump on m bed and growl and show his teeth if anyone tries to approach the bed or touch him. And then a few minutes later he'll be my regualr sweet boy. I have no idea what's going on - nothing has changed - I dont hit him. I have tried saying in a strong voice NO! But that doesnt seem to do anything....
Any suggestions or advice would be GLADLY welcomed as I am now sporting a few "war" wounds :rolleyes: (Scrathches)

When he goes into his "attack-mode", have you tried ignoring him for a few minutes by turning your back on him immediately and not playing with him? (same thing for the bites, except with some high-pitched sound to make sure he knows that it hurt)?

Also, when you go through room doors and stuff, it'll help to always go first before the dog. If your dog goes through the room door before you do, stay back and ignore him. Praise him if he follows you through the door. This lets your dog know that you are the leader =)

Yes I do ignore him and he just continues to bark and snarl. As for walking through the door first - I taught him that as soon as we got him. He has always known that I am the leader. I have no idea whats going on - im definetly going to look into a trainer...

You said he goes to attack-mode when you are playing with him. Is it something specific you do while playing that switches his attack mode on, or just totally random? Also, do you happen to play tug-of-war with him? I've read in many places that playing tug-of-war with his toys gets him aggresive and makes him think it's ok to bark at you and all..
