Frothing at the mouth. Prof. help wanted. Well not exactly but definitely turning from Ms. Jeckel to Ms. Hyde. Our li'l Roufianna @ 10.5 mos. loves every thing and every body she can get close enough to lick and play with. Unfortunately, what she can't get to she wants to rip up  Thursday in petco she was helping me pick up a few things she likes and another very well behaved large chocolate Lab came in with owner. She went ballistic. She actually bit my wifes finger not necessarily on purpose but while indiscriminately snapping at the air while the bride was trying to control her. Today she did the same to me when a woman passed with a German Sheppard. I think she may need some professional instruction. We live on Long Island in NY. Has anyone dealth with a trainer near here? It's scarry how she actually turns into another animal and goes deaf and blind with rage. |
A co-worker of my sister sent his lab mix to mutt manners on LI for two weeks, it cost $1500 for basically intense overnight training camp. The dog ended up getting sick and had to be sent home early, he did get a partial refund though. When the dog came back and was recovered he did know all the commands and such, but since then he has been re-homed and his personality has changed. |
Don't know of anyone out there, but you may want to check with your vet. |
Hmmm....sounds like she thinks she is FULLY in charge here, that she is alpha, and that she has to protect you like crazy. Maybe pick up Tamar Gellar's book - she only uses positive training...Oprah uses her for her own dogs, so that's quite a good word-of-mouth! :) |
