I have a problem. In the mornings Ramsey refuses to use the bathroom in the wet grass. He always ends up using it on the drive way. I have tried everything to get him in the grass. I have even tried getting him to try and use it in my moms flower bed and he still heads straight for the drive way. Any suggestions? |
I haven't tried this, but I've seen the puppy training sprays around pet stores and I think they emit some kind or scent that helps dogs recognize to go poop in that specific area. The label said you can use it indoors or outdoors. I think I want to get some and try it, too. :) |
I think I will have to try it because i dont know what else to do. I don't want to discipline him for using it on the driveway, because I just excited that he is now using it outside (only in the mornings tho) instead of in the house. :) |
Does he use pee pads in the house?? If so you could try laying one in the grass so that he gets used to going in a certain spot. This is what I did when i was training Memphis. I just kept making the pee pad smaller until it was no more. Now he doesn't have a problem. |
my yorkie has the same problem. I have to go out with them onto the wet grass before they will do it on the grass. I've also found out cutting the grass very low helps as well. |
Well my dad refuses to cut the grass low. He just got a new riding lawn mower and he is mowing the grass every other day now. I dont want him to use the pee pads outside because I want to get him out of the habbit of using it inside. |
My Cheri is like that - I CARRY her out to the grass a good 15 feet from the door....when I put her down I tell her "Do your business" and she promptly does - if I didn't carry her when the grass is wet - she'd pee on the patio too. I was going to say cut the grass ....but since your dad has a new toy I guess that ain't happenin ! |
Only on concrete One of my boys will only go on concrete. I finally got him out of the pee pads and to go outside, never would. Usually he would come in for his walk and run like the dickens for his pee pad. Now he will go on the concrete, and that is good enough for me, makes cleaning up nice and easy. I am just thrilled that he finally has the outside idea, his brother will only go outside. |
Put yourself in their shoes (paws). Would you like to get your paws all wet in the cold damp grass at 8:00 in the morning? hehehe... Maybe that's why they don't want to go on the grass! |

This is a PROBLEM???? I'd take the driveway over the kitchen floor anytime! :D |
You can take him out with a leash to the spot you want him to go, that way he can't wander to the driveway. |
don't know how to help ya there. Mine are the same way and if it's raining outside, you can forget it!! |
