Help with temper tantrums I have a 10 month old Yorkie that throws temper tantrums when he does not get want he wants. these tantrums consist of peeing in the floor. He is house broke BUT if say he wants a treat and I do not get him one he will pee. If I go to the bathroom and he wants in and I do not open the door he pees. If I go up stairs and do not let him follow he pees.( I do not let him upstairs because he was just neutered last week and I want to make sure he is done with the marking before I let him on my carpet again.) I have tried punishing him by saying NO and taking him outside but he continues. Does any think if I do like I would with a little kid, just ignore the pee and clean it up when he isn't looking, he will eventually give up? |
I have no idea what to tell you,. It was my impression that a dog does not do things to get even. They don't understand the concept I was told. If it were me I would put him in his crate whenever he did such a thing for a time out. I am sure he will get the message. No treats or toys in the crate. No crate? Then put a gate up acrosse the kitchen and leave him alone for alittle while. If a child did something that was wrong continually you would give them a time out to think about it. I would use the same tactic. Good luck. |
I have a crate and I have been doing that but he will whine and whine and whine. When he has been quiet for a while i let him with everyone else. But he just goes back to throwing a fit. I did not think dogs could do this either but he tells me when he has to go out which is every hour or so and he only does it when I either do not let him have a treat or I go somewhere where he can not go. I thought maybe it was a separation problem and he gets nervous but he does it when it comes to treats and the worst is when the kids wont give him their table food. I never give him table food. |
They are no different than kids. They have such a strong will and never seem to tire. Don't give in. That's all I can tell you. Keep him out of the kitchen when the kids are eating. If he whines correct him. Repeat 100 times if you have to, he needs to know who's boss. Mommy you have spoiled him I think;) |
Could it be anxiety peeing??? Have no idea if such a thing exists, but I know if Luna can not SEE me all the time when I am home, she will shiver terribly...it might be... donnou.... |
Really it was the kids that spoiled him they do not like to hear him whine so they give in. BUT I have told them that they have to just go in a different room from him and pretend you do not hea it. |
If it is anxiety peeing how do I stop it? |
