I am so frustrated that I am about to cry!!
 

Ok, I realize that I may have taken on to much.. I am a stay at home mother of 3 children ages 7,3, and 7 months.. now i have Kallie who is 15wks and Stewie who is 14 wks.. I am crate training and have an xpen also.. I have been putting them in the crate when I leave and when we go outside and they do not potty.. if they potty, it is playtime in the xpen.. well Kallie does not have a problem pooping or peeing in her crate and just laying in it.Stewie will not go in his crate but they both go in the xpen..HELP ME!!!!.what do I do to stop this...I am losing my patience....

You have your hands really full with the Kids and 2 Yorkies, But Patience it's the key...Don't give up:thumbup: You might need to spend a bit more time making the effort

Well maybe the crate is too big for her???
Also if they don't go do their business when you take them outside, take them back for a little while and take them out again. Going outside isn't fun time but all business, that what they need to learn!!

How often are you letting them outside to go potty...do they give you any sign that they have to go out? How long do you stay outside with them for them to go? You said they are being crate trained, how often are they in their crate? Have you been giving them treats and showing tons of excitement when they do their business outside?

Ok, here is our day till now.. 6:30am I wake up to get my daughter ready for school.. the dogs sleep with me so I carry them with me to her room to wake her up and then we go to the back door. I set them down and say lets go outside and open the door. they run out and we go through the screen porch out the other door and down the steps to the grass.. (they have mastered this already) then once on the grass and since it is first thing in the morning, then they both go pee and poop. they get a treat for this and the neighbors get to see me look like i am having a seizure.. then we go back inside the back door and they walk about 10 ft to threir xpen. I go in first to motivate them to come in and once they do I say good job and set their food bowls down and step out. I leave them in there while I get my daughter ready to go,then before I take her to school I take them out again doing the same thing.. when I get her to school at 7:30 I come home and sit in the recliner and love on the pups anad watch tv until my 3yr old wakes up. then he and I take them outside again always following the same routine. then we come back in, they go in the xpen and I feed my son.. then after he is done eating we cuddle or play for about 30 minutes and then take them out again.. my youngest wakes up the latest at about 10 am and I feed her and play with her and then take them out again.. up until today, we barely ever used the crate.. the xpen was their den..oh, and Kallies crate is the smallest they make and it is to big for her.. i have fixed that tonight though, I put something in there to block the back of it..anyways, we do this all day every 30 minutes to an hour and they eat 3 times per day..they will go whenever they feel like it with no whining or barking or anything. It is hard sometimes to catch them in the act when they are in the xpen so that is why I started the crate today..we all go to bed about 10pm and they sleep with me and hold it all night until last night..one of them jumped off of my huge bed an pooped and then somehow got back on it.. my husband said no more sleeping in our bed.. what am I doing wrong?

I think you're doing everything right. It's probably because their so young and eat so many times a day. I only feed mine once a day, and we still go out every hour. The only saving grace I have is if they do go they'll go in my shower where I can just wash it out. My youngest is 6 months old and my oldest is 4 years. So I guess patience and consistency is all you can do.

I feel so bad for you. I actually did burst out in tears yesterday. Dolce is 16 weeks old and potty training is hell, she pooped in her crate also. Just hold on they say it gets better, and I sure hope they are right.

It really does take time and patience. Your babies are very young and it will take time. Your doing well so keep it up and eventually it will get better. I do have to say that sometimes it will take up to a year or more to get a pup totally trained. Lulu is 11 months old right now and I have to say about 99% trained. Training worked best when I didn't free feed.

i feed twice a day, when i get up & at dinner time and offer to go out often. Although Tilula doesnt always eat when i feed her... If they go in the xpen, maybe you should put it outside for potty time, if they are playing t much outside to think about pottying maybe take them out seperately & if one goes make sure the other smells to get the idea. Sometimes you have to let them have a couple accidents running free in the house to see where they prefer to go-if you want to choose proper placement for puppy pads, then when they learn to go to the pad you can move it near the door until they get the idea & basically take it away & when you see them sniffing for it you let them out. They have grass scented pads, you can soak up a little urine on a clean one so they can smell it & figure out what is going on. I never owned pets when my kids were small, the kids & husband were hard enough to train :) & you wouldnt want the babies crawling on the pads. But normally using a couple different house training methods/options helps and as they get older enforcing the one you prefer. I use pads & have a pet door to a fenced yard plus remind her to go out often but Tilula still goes where she pleases about 5-10% of the time anyways. She is 2 yrs old. Yorkies... Well, I am in the same boat. I have a 5yr old and a 2yr old...along with a 12wk pup.

She doesn't mind using it in her bed. How big should her bed be? I have a large crate that has food at one end and potty pad at the other, but she could care less where she goes. I free feed also, so it's hard to tell when she needs to potty...She also gives NO warning.

When is she old enough to schedule feed?

We've crate trained all of our puppies with great success. This is the rule we use when crate training. Once you take them out of the crate and they go potty they get lot's of praise and get to stay out (supervised or in the x-pen) and play for about 45 minutes then it's back in the crate (This is the hard part but very important). Keep them in the crate for about an hour to hour & 1/2 then they can come back out. If they do not go "potty" they must go back in their crate. They can only stay out (either in the x-pen or with you) if they've done their thing. If you're consistant, with repetition they'll figure it out. I think you're having such a hard time because they've been in the x-pen and not the crate, it's too big and that's why they'll mess in it. Make sure the crate is just big enough for them to lay in and turn around in and they shouldn't mess in it. It's really hard because you don't want to put them back in the crate after 45 minutes but believe me it will pay off. I got kind of lax with Bella and my husband reminded me that I had to put her back in after the 45 minutes and once I started doing that I saw the results fairly quickly. I'm also constantly watching her, I can tell when she has to "go" just in her actions. If they start going to the door to let you know they have to "go" and it's close to the time to put them back in the crate, let them stay out longer if they "go" but then put them back in the crate within 20 minutes or so. The key is to not give them an opportunity to "go" in the house. It's definitely taken longer with Bella then with any of our labs (about twice as long) but it's worked and now she's 6 month old and goes to the door when she needs to do her thing. Also, you must go out with them every single time to make sure they really "went". I live in Washington state and that's not so much fun in the rain but I stand there with my umbrella in the back yard saying "go potty" until she goes. That's the other thing, I always say "go potty" and both she and Lucee know what that means so when I say that now, they know what I want them to do. It takes a lot of patience and consistancy (just like kids! LOL!). I hope my rambling helps! Good luck!

Seems like you have your hands way to full... I go crazy w/ a 5 yr old daugther and a 6 mo old pup.... how do you do it?!?

Another thing I thought of....Having 2 puppies you may need to take them out one at a time. I found with Bella that she would be so excited when I took her out of her crate she would just want to play with Lucee and wouldn't do her thing. So as soon as Lucee did her thing I had to put her back in the house and then Bella would "go" once Lucee wasn't around. You've definitely got your hands full with 2 puppies and such small children. My youngest is 16, I can't imagine what you must be going through, my heart goes out to you!

My hat's off to you. I made myself wait for a Yorkie until my kids were older (my Shi Tzu is 10 years old and was so much easier with little kids and a busy job). BUT it sounds like you are incredibly dedicated and doing a grand job of being consistent. And that's really the key no matter how you choose to train.

You've gotten some good advice already. I also crate trained both of mine. Reggie, the older, is perfect. Coby is 7 months old, and we're still working.

They're both still young. Coby pottied in his "very small" crate for several weeks. Then, all of a sudden, it stopped (yeah!!).

Since I am home all day, when should I put them in the crate? I let them sleep with me and there's no problem and then in the morning I take them out first thing..and then it's breakfast.. when should I put them in the crate for the first time, right after they eat or wait till they potty again.not sure where to start with it..
