okay i have 2 problems i need help with okay i have my 3 puppies.. Little girl a 5lb yorkie/pom cross who is going to be 5 on halloween..she thinks she rules the house and can come and go as she pleases Gidget a 1 year old (just had a bday) yorkie that weighs about 6.5lbs and is "the angel" Scrappy 8month old 7lb yorkie who doesn comprehend much in my opinion but i love them all but im about to have my second baby. i only had little girl when my son was born but with the three of theses together its starting to drive me insane. i have 2 problems with them: 1.) the wake up call they sleep in a crate downstairs but as soon as my husband leaves for work they start this constant crying, howling barkin let me out noise that i cant have with a newborn sleeping. i did start squirting them with water this morning when they barked but this requires me to get up and come down stairs every few minutes..maybe if i am constisted for a few weeks they will stop barking?? 2.) i have a fenced in back yard, i have tucked toys in the areas where the gate meets the gate door and they still get out. lately little girl is leaving for little 2-3 hour adventures and i cant keep looking for them when the new baby gets here, because loading 2 crying kids in the car isnt fun..i guess the only thing i can do there is walk them, which really isnt an option i like or stay outside with them each time i let them out..but how can i train them to stay queit and stay in the yard?? thanks..please no give advice on giving them up because of the new baby i dont believe its neccessary to rehome puppies because your family gets bigger, and the big plus is they are my whittle furry babies when they are good:) |
Can you put cement blocks around the areas of your fence that the dogs get out. They can't move them. If there tunneling under you can try pouring cement. I don't know what I can tell you about the noise, except to bring them upstairs so you don't have to keep going up and down the stairs. |
In the morning - does your husband feed them and let them out? Once my alarm goes off, the sun comes up, the neighbors car wakes them up, anything - once they are up they want FOOD and they want to be let out to potty. 20 minutes later they go back to bed and sleep until noon. I would make sure your husband is letting them outside and feeding them, and then maybe they will behave. Can they not run around the house? Maybe if they could have some space they might just settle on a couch with a toy and chill. That's what mine do. As far as outside, you need to plug up the holes better if they are getting out. They could get hit by a car or stolen or they might not come back. |
Thats a hard one... I too have stairs and hate when Meka lets out a cry or bark and I have to go all the way down stairs to calm her or see whats going on... Patience is all I can say... And maybe letting them out in the yard might help... I agree with the other person - try filling up the wholes with something that cant be moved... |
I agree with Erin. Ask your husband to do the morning feed and bathroom trip. Five babies is a lot for anyone to deal with! If you can establish a safe area for them to play uncrated, it will give you a little more time for your children. I have gates on both entrances to my kitchen and it is a safe zone for Ziggy. His crate is under the kitchen table and he is crated all night. When I go to work, I make sure he has fresh water and his favourite toys; I leave his crate open and he often goes in for a nap. The area can also be used if you need to lie down for a catnap while the children are napping. Charlene |
well cement sounds good but i dont think they are digging and this also a rental home. i think they are squeezing out somewhere i just got find the new secret spot. as far as my husband letting them out we have a agreement that if i want dogs they are my responsiblity which i see nothing wrong with i have never expected him to care for them the way i do. i mean he loves them and does everything else around house, i stay home all day. im gonna try the water spraying for the noise abd just start going out with them every time they go out |
This is off subject, but I would LOVE to see a picture of your yorkie/pom. I love both breeds and have both breeds, would love to see the mix of both. |
