my lil terror :) Caden is about 3 months old and is almost housebroken . BUT ... when we take him outside ... he indicates that hes fine and doesnt have to go . but sure enough ... the minute we walk into the door ... he pees or poops on the floor ! yeah .. kinda funny ... but not that funny wheni have to clean it up LOL ! s0o .. how can i train him to do all of his "business" outside ? |
Too funny ( not really ) ...... Toby will tell me he has to go and I'll take him out and he stands at the door off the pool and looks at that scarey big grassy area. I simply do the "packleader" role and insist that he goes out and 99% of the time he hesitates but does go out and takes care of business. Now when hubby gets the bark to potty from Toby (oh and hubby is not a good packleader), he takes him out but does not "MAKE" him go out into the yard to potty. They come back in and within five minutes, Toby is giving him the "bark" again. Takes him out and he goes. Try putting him on a leash and walking him in the same area he potties in and sometimes the odor of a previous elimination will move them to go! Also using the same words for potty and HUGE verbal rewards when he does his business and even having a treat handy to give him when he eliminates will possibly encourage him to do his business ouside. Just some suggestions. |
Stay out longer and keep walking with him. The walking stimulates their need to go. |
If you are outside and he doesn't go within 10-15 minutes.. pick him up and carry him back to his crate, and repeat in 15 minutes to a half an hour. Walk with him which will help stimulate him to go. Keep doing this and eventually he will go outside all the time only. The important thing is to carry him to the crate though so he doesn't have a chance to potty on the floor :). |
