is it easy?? hi, as some people already know, i am adopting a little 1 year old yorkie girl. i just wanted to know how hard it will be to train her. |
If you read the posts you'll see some people have an easy time, but most people have some difficulty. Their little buggers.:D |
Determination and patience is key. Give her time to settle in then start with the sit position. Make it fun. Yorkies love to have fun. I wouldn't train longer then 5 - 10 mins because they do loose their train of thought and want to go onto something else. It's fun. The trick is to keep their attention with a good treat. Something she loves and only gets during training. Congratulations and good luck to you and your new furbaby. |

One year old is still young. As posted above, time and patience and repetition are key. I would HIGHLY recommend clicker training. I have used it on both my Yorkie and Biewer with great success. Here is a link to give you more info: http://www.clickertraining.com/ Hope this helps :) |
I think partially it depends on what you are training. I find Zoe is quick to learn if she thinks it's fun and there's something in it for her (like maybe yogurt drops). House training seems to continue to be a challenge. :( Good luck with your baby! |
