Moving and need advice.. So my Husband and I and of course Bella will be moving into our brand new home starting this weekend. I have been taking her over there periodically so that she gets used to the new sites and smells of the place. So what I am concerned about is I have had her about 5 weeks and I have been crate training her and she has been doing really well (with minor accidents) and she seems to be catching on to going potty outside. Do you think I am going to have any problems with her moving into a new environment and if so what can I expect and how can I avoid or make the transition easier for her? I obviously will be continuing the crate training as this is just the beginning and I may start the bell training on the door (anyone have any experience with this, and how do you feel about it?) I just do not want to be going in the reverse direction with her and her potty training. Thanks for your advice, recommendations and general support. Christina |
She might have an accident or two, but if you keep up with the training she should be fine. |

I second that. Just make sure that you have her normal stuff out, and I would let her sniff around, with you watching her, just so she knows that your stuff is there, and its home. :D Glad you found your home. |
I just started bell training about 2 weeks ago. I bought one of those service bells so I could sit it on the floor within her reach. Molly will ring the bell when I tell her to, but she has not done it on her own yet. I think my family is sick of hearing "Ring the bell to go potty!"...ha!! I hope she catches on soon!! Good luck with the move. I'm sure Bella will be happy in her new home!! Carla |
All my dogs are rescue dogs of one sort or another, which means they have had to be uprooted and moved about a few times some of them. I have found that keeping a routine is very essential, along with praise for any sucesses! Pippy wasn't lost for very long when we took her on, she soon caught on to the fact of where nd when.... as both me and my husband work the dogs are on a schedule system now.Good luck with the move, and yor lil sweety will be just fine, you'll soon see her being the "queen" of her own domain marking all crutial areas as hers, LOL |
