Thanks! That looks really intriguing and would help with the "Yorkie Pace" that ends up with butts not over the paper. Anybody else have success with one? I may try that!

I used a litter pan with a washable pad in it for my last puppy I got and it worked great! She is my best trained dog! Haven't got the older ones to catch on to it, though. They prefer a washable pad on the floor. So, I think if you start them out young you will have the greatest sucess.

I really like the idea of having a litter box for the pad. I had never thought about him missing the pad.:eek: I plan on going to petsmart this weekend to pick up a few more items. I am going to add this litter box to my list.:thumbup:

i use the ARM & HAMMER brand pee pads (i get them from target) They are SO much better than any of the other ones i have tried and they are not nearly as expensive either. They also trap the smell of the pee so it doesnt stink up your house, which is a very good thing!! We didn't start training Avery on this brand but we used another one that looked exactly like it(i was soo soo thrilled when i found these-i highly suggest you get some!!) -Also, you have to be very consistent when teaching them where to go.. and reward/praise them after they do!! It only took Avery about a month to be fully trained. just be consistent (i give cheerios as a treat-she loves them!! ..they are small and that way i can give them all the time and its not a big deal) <3

OH i saw you said you were going to petsmart- i wish someone would have told me this beforehand, GO TO TARGET (i see you live in CA so i know you have one) :) You can get the pee pads for sure there and whatever else you can pick up(training-wise,etc.) I dont get food there or anything like that though. And whatever else you need, you can get elsewhere-but petco/petsmart are way more expensive when it comes to alot of that stuff.. just a suggestion. :) congrats on your new babaaayy. where abouts in CA are you?

Thank you for the tip the arm & hammer pee pad, I will look for some. :thumbup: I will stop at Target on my way to the pet store. I am a huge fan of Target. We have one close by and it seems like I am always there picking something up.

I am very lucky that I am a SAHM, so I will be home most of the time. So, I think I will be able to be consistant with potty training.

We live in the Bay Area.

To the earlier question.... we used quite a few at first...and took Taylor to the pad if we noticed he might have to go ....OR....if he started to go. It didn't take long for him to get the idea. We then started reducing the number of potty pads in the house. He is the most potty trained dog we've ever had. We have found that the frames that hold the potty pads in place are really nice for lanai's or porches so the pads don't blow away.

Inside now he just has one inside and one outside on the lanai. The frames are very inexpensive... I think we bought them at PetSmart.

Thanks Gayle T. I just saw the "frames" recently. I'm thinking of trying either the boxes or the frames.
