Random Potty Questions -At what age was your yorkie fully potty trained? (or do you still have occasional accidents here and there?) -Does anyone else's puppy poop everywhere (except the pad that you THOUGHT they were trained to go on), when they have diarrhea or an upset tummy? Luigi had a case of diarrhea this week (and I remember this happening when he had diarrhea when I first got him too), and even though he's been doing perfectly fine going on his pads prior to all that (in fact, I started to finally trust him a little ;) ), once he had diarrhea..he seems to not go on the pads and just goes allll over the kitchen floor (:( bleh) Then today, his stool is better and he's back to the pads. Why? Does this happen to anyone else? |
I can't remember exactly at what age Reagan was when I started saying she was completely housebroken. She still has an occasional accident but that's only when we are gone for a while. Last night we headed into town aroun 4 and didnt' get back until maybe 8 or a little later and she had gone on the floor. Usually she would've been able to hold it but when I put her out right before we left she didn't go and I knew she didn't. She just layed there in the sun and we had to leave so we came home to a spot on the floor but I expected it. As far as not holding it maybe when his tummy is upset it comes on him kinda fast and he doesn't have time to make it to the pads. We haven't gone through that yet with Reagan so I don't know what she would do. Since he goes right back to the pads when he's feeling better though it sounds like maybe he just isn't making it to the pads fast enough. |
Loki was totally housetrained by 1 year. It would have been sooner but he had some medical problems. We didn't get Sammy until she was almost a year, and she has about 1 accident a week. She hasn't quite learned how to tell us she needs to go out. So, Sammy's housetraining is more prevention. Loki will ring his bells, bark at me, come get me, etc. Anyway, Sammy had diarrhea last week and she has no problem going all over the floor even though she is otherwise trained. Loki will freak out and ring his bells and cry to go outside. He would pee on the floor if he had to, but he will do whatever he can to not poop in the house. I think it depends on the dog and the level of training. If they are sick, that's gonna happen. Feed chicken and rice. :D |
Buzz is 5 going on 6 months and is some what trained to go only on wee wee pad but during last weeks surgery he had the runs and yes he went everywhere. I had poop smell all over the place. but he is back to normal. The only problem im having with him is that he tends to go two times, drops one on wee wee pad, then walks off the paper and goes again on floor  Or if we are not around he goes on paper then drags the thing around making a MESS:eek: |

New owner Help! Hello, I just got my puupy today and did buy wee wee pads and just wondering how you train them to use the pads? And he also seems to keep in corners is that because he is scared? Thanks for the advice Janine |

Thanks Thanks for the advice :) I also have another dog that is 11 and he has a room where he sleeps it's pretty big maybe bathroom size and has his bed in there do you think having the puppies bed in there and sleeping with him is a good idea i don't have a crate.. Thanks Janine |
I wouldn't. I would keep them seperate at first. Just to make sure that no one gets hurt, and that way it won't scare the puppy. |
Penny's almost 6 months old, and she's pretty well trained since I really got on top of the situation. Piper's almost 5, and he still has accidents. I wouldn't be upset when he has an accident, because of the really running stool. You know when that kind of urge hits you have to get to the bathroom, and fast. |
Day 3 Well it's day 3 and sammy is doing great :D he is going potty outside most times and poops almost always..... My other dog in a small dog also and they just love each other and sammy is really starting to get comfortable here..Thanks all Janine |
