Barking little boy! I had to laugh tonight--I happen to catch an episode of the Dog Whisperer and he was working with two yorkies. He managed to get them to stop barking by doing that "ch, ch ch" thing he does while looking assertive. I have tried that--my dog will continue to bark (if he thinks he hears something or if someone walks by our house--always the same dogs on their walks--you'd think he'd recognize them by now!). Anyhow, I don't know how he does it--I think it works for him because he is a stranger to the dogs because my dog could care less what noises I am making or that I am giving him that touch at the neck like the DW does to get their attention---just doesn't seem to work for me. |
woops Okay, I'm an idiot--apparently this isn't a new thread--if I would have scrolled down I would have found numerous responses to it. I do want to be clear that I do love what Ceaser Milan is able to accomplish--I'd love to have him come work with my dog. I have been able to use his philosophy to keep my dog from running out the door when it is open--that was huge! Maybe I'll try the picking up technique (like the mom does--gently anyhow, and see if that works when he is barking). I love reading the threads and have been away to long!;) |
I read a reply from a post that someone sent me, about making a noise when they barked, and it works great. I use bababa, and Penny will stop barking, and run to me for some loving. Keep trying it, because it really works. |
?? I'm not familiar as to what bababa is--do you say that word and the dog comes to you??? |
