9 month old yorkie that is STILL not housebroken I have a 9 month old female yorkie that is giving me the hardest time with housetraining. I put her in the smallest cage that she can fit in and she still pees and poops in her cage at night. She does not even care less if she lays all in her pee. She does this at LEAST twice a week. Then she comes in the house and pees ALL over the couch and bed. I can bathe her and as soon as I get her out she pees everywhere even if I JUST let her out before I bathe her. I really don't know why she is like this. She also has another HUGE issue with barking ALLLLLLLLL of the time. She barks all night when she is in her cage, even in my room. Then when I let stay outside in her playpen during the day she barks NONSTOP. I honestly don't know how her throat does not get sore. Is she just a completely stupid dog? Will she grow out of this? |
my Bella is 7 months old. I got her at 4 months. I've had issues with her too about peeing and pooping in her kennel, where she sleeps. In Bella's case, she'd been raised in a pen with many other small puppies and it was something she got used to. I seperated her sleeping and playing area in her crate. It's a larger one and I out a small crate in there with a blanket for her sleeping area. The rest is open for her to play in. Since I've done this, she's only pooped in her kennel once, on a pee pad, not where she sleeps. I think the more she realizes her sleeping/living and bathroom areas are seperate, the less it'll happen. |
Could you buy an expen and attache it to the front of her crate? Then you could leave the crate door open, lay a wee-wee pad at the oposite end and attach a water bottle to the pen and give her a toy and a nylabone. This is what I did with mine. During the day I took her outside every hour for play and potty. She was not allowed to run loose in the house. At night we would keep her on the sofa with us to cuddle. This system really worked great. |
I have tried everything. I have just been letting her stay outside as I cannot have everything ruined and she STILL poops and pees on the porch when she has 25 acres to do it on. |
poop machines Yorkies ARE very hard to train. I was having a problem with my little boy who is 2 and 1/2 years of age. (Remember they have such small bladders and experts say they can hold it in up to 8 hours...but really how should they know?) I finally gave up on mine. I went to the alternate, and put diapers on mine. I get regular baby diapers and use a boy band around the mid section, females can use under garments for dogs in heat located at any pet store. (Also Ebay has cute little panties and boy bands.) putting a diaper on will save your carpet, and after a few months of my guy wearing a diaper, he learned to go out side. (He didn't like the pee feeling in his diaper.) Hope this will help you =):animal-pa |
How are you rewarding her when she potties appropriately? |
