Okay, need some encouragement and advice... Alright I have had Bella for 2 weeks as of tomorrow June 24th she has been doing really well with crate training for the most part...She understands that if she goes outside she will get a treat....so....yesterday I took her out and she went pee and then put her in her crate, but had to leave to go to out our new home that is being finished and I was only gone for about 2 1/2 hours which is not the first time and she peed in her crate, this is the first time she has done this since we got her and I just do not understand what happened. I am trying so hard to get this housebreaking down...seeing I take her with me everywhere (including work) I take her out all the time and was hoping she was catching on more...... So my husband says to me "Christina she is doing good, we have only had her 2 weeks and she is only 14 weeks old" am I getting upset over spilled milk....I mean I understand that she is going to have accidents but I want her trained correctly. This is kinda how my day goes... Husband takes her out in the morning when he wakes 6:30-7:00am and she usually pees.. When I wake I take her out 8:30 she goes pee and poo On our way to work.. Feed 9:15 am, 12:15pm and 3:00pm and then bathroom every 1 1/2 to 2 hours...we play, run around outside, play inside with toys...and then back in the crate...so she is in the crate most times because I am trying to get her to understand. I feel like I am not doing this correctly and need some advice/encouragement....what worked best for you, what advice would you give to me? Thanks for hearing me rant...... She is oh so adorable and love her to death....my husband (even though he was not fond for the small type dogs) is smitten by her... Thanks, Christina |
From the sounds of it you're doing an EXCELLENT job! Accidents happen...even when you feel like your fur baby is 90% potty trained. Keep up the great work! It sounds like you're a wonderful "mommy" to your fur baby :D |
Hi, I am in Wisconsin too. Anyhow, I think you are doing good. I had the same problem with Holly and I basically just stuck to what I was doing and she adjusted eventually. There were times when she had accidents. And there were times when it seemed like she was already completely trained and then she'd go back to get old ways. The main thing is consistency. I have gotten great advice on here and I'm sure you will too. More than anything, you must have patience. I'm sure someone on here will have the info. that you are looking for. |
I think your doing great. I think the secret is a lot of patience, and loving. |
Sounds like you're doing fine. You might want to make sure every surface of the bottom of the crate is covered with blankets and bedding, even the corners. If they can't find a surface to go on, they usually won't pee where they sleep. Keep up what you're doing, she'll have an occasional accident, but it sounds like she's doing good! |
