Lucy learned to sit! So I decided to start training Lucy (she's 14 weeks old) some basic commands, and much to my delight she is a very quick learner. On Wednesday night she was being rowdy, nipping at my fingers and toes, which is a problem we are trying desperately to stop, we grab her muzzle and tell her no-no and even have gone to the lengths of putting bitter apple on our fingers and toes, then giving her an appropriate chew toy. IF ANYONE HAS ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO CONTROL THIS I NEED IT! But anyway, I decided that I would try to train her the sit command, well after 2 days (each day 15-20 minutes) she has learned to sit on command. I'm so happy and proud of her. Now I'm going to move on to paw and other paw and stay. |
:clapsmile :clapsmile :clapsmile What a smart girl Lucy is. Way to go little girl. As far as the biting this will continue for awhile. She's teething. Your doing everything right just be patient. Make sure she has lot's of safe chew toys on hand that she can bite on. |
Thanks! its comforting to know that I am doing the right things for the chewing/biting. I thought i was being mean but i guess i'm not! |
You're doing great! As far as the biting, she'll learn. You can also yell "OWWW" like it really hurts. Sometimes that works. Max is just learning to sit now - my fault. He was learning, but then he started marking and I spent months teaching him to pee in the right places. You should be very proud! |

I promise you that the nipping will stop with age. Both of mine did this, and it lasted about 3 weeks for both of them. Try making a great big "OWWW" or a sharp "OUCH!" when she does it-usually that will scare them off ;) |
Lucy we are so proud of you:p |
