I am sure you love your dog but I have to be honest and say I disapprove of this, yorkies love company. Why don't you read up properly about crate training and start again? It will be very confusing for your puppy, going potty outside during the day then using pads at night, how are they supposed to know? You need to choose one method of housetraining and you need to be consistent in what ever approach you decide to take.
When I was training Oscar, I kept his crate by by bed and as soon as he cried, I would open the crate door and take him outside to do his business then I simply returned him to his crate. He soon got the hang of it and now he can last all through the night, so much so he now sleeps on my bed with me! it is really important to let him out as soon as he needs to go wee otherwise he will end up soiling his bed which would really upset him.
Oscar still has the odd accident, especially when it is raining and he doesn't want to go out but he is 5 months old and still learning, he will get there in the end as long as I stick with routine. I am sure you will get there too in the end! Good luck to you and your yorkie. |
