Another Barking Question I know there have been numerous threads about controlling their barking. I am going to try the pennies in a can method for when Izzy barks uncontrollably in the house. However, I have a big problem with taking him on walks. When he sees another dog he goes nuts and wont stop barking!! Its so bad that he sounds like he's crying sometimes. The dog can be across the street and no where near him and he goes crazy. Its frustrating because I have to cut our walks short, or I find myself not taking him around on constant look out for other dogs. I need some advice...Im so frustrated I dread taking him on walks. |
I don't know if this will work with Izzy, but when my Dad used to walk our family dog Lucky (he's a German Shepherd), he would bark at other dogs on their walks. My Dad would just turn around quickly and go the other way. He kept doing this and now Lucky doesn't bark at other dogs. After awhile, my Dad would let him meet other dogs, let him sniff them, and now he has a lot of friends in their neighborhood. |
There is another barking thread that I just posted on; you might look it at it. Here is a very good article about retraining barkers: http://www.clickersolutions.com/arti...nicbarking.htm |
Thanks guys. I will check out the link. I do walk away, he wont stop until the dog is out of his sight. |
I've posted more suggestions on this thread if you're interested: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...30#post1219430 |
