Purse Anxiety! My baby hates her purse. I don't put in her in it often, really I never do but I want her to be used to it in the event I have to. When we first got her she would sit in there no problem. Now she runs and hides and bribery doesn't work, she's too smart. Anyways does anyone know how I could train her to get in it? It's the cutest thing and her daddy bought it for her so I hate for it to just sit in the closet. Any advice would be much appreciated! |

Annika is used to being in her travelling bag but I always have to shove her in it . . .once in she does not complain :p and will stay quit forever as long as she is right by her mommy's side (that's me) . . . who wants to stay coop up in a bag anyway :) |

You can try setting it down on the floor and putting treats inside to encourage her to want to go in there :) That way, she thinks that the purse is a fun place to go in :) |

I've tried every treat imaginable and I set it on the floor. Instead she just hides under the bed and looks at it. I don't blame her for not wanting to be in it but I don't understand why it's a problem and it wasn't originally. |

Hmmm...I'm not sure. Maybe you could tell her good girl, good girl everytime she goes near it?? |

My Annika follows me like a shadow . . .every where . . .except every morning when I leave for work, when I walk to the laundry room, she now just stands in the hallway, no way close to the gated laundry room :p but only in the mornings . . .PM she has not problem following me in there as she knows I am not leaving for work . . is that smart or what :) |

I would leave the purse on the floor where she plays, put a few toys in it and around it, and some treats. But, don't put her in it. Just let her get used to it being around, she will see it's actually a "fun" place. Once she gets used to it, put her in it (and give her treats and use lots of praise) and walk around in the house, or go outside and walk around and then come back. Gradually increase the time you have her in it. Make sure she gets treats while inside, and maybe put her favorite toy(s) in there with her. |

SJK1113, that's exactly how I trained Miko to be comfortable in the stroller :) |

I'm going to give it a try. Thanks so much for all of the help! |

Aubrey did the same thing, I think its becasue they want to see the outside, so I do not even put him in it anymore. |

So I have a similiar problem. My Lilly has now got to a point where she will happily climb in and out of the purse and if its on the floor while we're out she will sleep in it BUT I have no chance in carrying her in it! The minute I pick up the bag it takes about 3 minutes and she is desperately wrigglyng out! Short of buying a bag which will "lock her in" I don't really know what to do... She lets me carry her but she's just too enquisitive and likes to explore... |

I guess there is still hope! I'm glad I came across this thread because I am having the same problem with Benjamin. I thought it was a lost cause until I read all of the great suggestions that were posted. Thanks for the info...even if it wasn't meant for me...I think I'll steal it anyway...LOL :p |
