Barking I'm having a real problem with my puppy barking when I leave the house for work. My roommate is home and has to deal with the dog barking for hours. He seemed to be getting better. Yesterday when I left he barked for a bit then just went to sleep, but he was barking for a couple hours this morning. I have no idea what to do. We've been putting him in his playpen while we're home and telling him "NO BARK" when he barks, and praising him with treats when he's silent. He'll whine and bit and bark here & there when we're around, but when we leave, all bets are off and he goes nuts. What on earth do I do :( |
Winston seems to have separation anxiety. Search it out. I think someone had tried while at home to put the dog in the room and leave him for x amount of time and return back so the dog could see that he/she would return. They kept increasing the time increment until the pup got used to it. You can also try leaving on a tv or radio on low so they can hear the voices. |
Yeah we've been trying to leave him in there for small amount of time and then coming back to him so that he realizes we're not leaving him... I did leave the TV on this morning and that didn't help much :( My apartment complex is doing construction in the hallway (installing carpet) this week so it may be the noise that could be making him bark? I just hope it stops eventually. It breaks my heart to think that the little guy is sitting there barking his head off wanting someone to come be with him!! But I also don't want to get evicted from his constant barking *sigh* |

He's got a fairly big playpen, and a huge crate that he loves to sleep in. But appearantly just not when we're not home :( from what my roommate is telling me, it comes and goes, but we leave around 7:30am and he barks his head off for up to 2 hours before finally passing out for the day. He's frustrated (understandably) :( hopefully he'll continue to be patient while I figure out how to stop this. He is still very young..just barely 9 weeks this weekend... Is the barking something that may subside as he gets older and more used to being in there 8-5? |
I am having that very problem when my Mom leaves for work..Sasha will cry and bark getting louder and louder each second...I can barely sleep in the morning for her barking |
:confuse2: well at least I'm not alone in this !!! |
