Neutralizer? I saw a potty training post that mentioned Neutralizer. I'm wondering if that would help me??? Molly is 3 mos old and we're working on potty training. She's in her crate during the day while I'm at work and at night. She's let out first thing in the morning, before I leave, at lunch, when I get home, after she eats, another time during the evening, then at night before bedtime. I usually have her on a leash to potty so that I can tell what she does, but when I don't she runs right over to the section of yard we use for potty trips. So I know she has gotten a clue on the whole routine. I know it will take a while, but I feel like we're on a good track. Any time she is in the house and I can't be right with her, she's in our bathroom 'cos of the vinyl flooring. Only took 2 accidents on the carpet before I figured that one out...duh!! She does continue to pee and poop in the bathroom on occasion if I'm not with her. I clean accidents with a disinfectant, but is the scent still there? Is that why she's still going in there? I can watch her go outside, bring her right back in, and she will go again!! Suggestions welcome!! Carla |
Yep. While we can't smell it, they can. That's why you need to use neutralizer. Also, if she should ever hit something other than the floor, like a towel, you should spray it both BEFORE and AFTER laundering. Just going through this this week with a kitten hitting manhood. His neuter appt. is at the end of the month!;) |
I'm going to get some today. I woke up to a dirty crate this morning...both pee and poop. I should've known that was going to happen. I stood outside with her FOREVER last night and she wouldn't potty. I've started Cheerios for productive potty outings. Maybe that will help too. |
Odorban is a good neutralizer |
Thanks for the tip! Think I can get it at Target? |
Probably. I'm sure they will have a similar product if not. |

I like Simple Solution. I think it smells better than some of the others. She's going on the floor when she comes back in because she's not empty. Sammy did this to me a few times - she faked me out by peeing a little then coming back in and pooping on the floor. But she runs back to the door like she's done. She's NOT! As you get better at this you will learn her schedule (usually 0-15 mins after she eats - Loki used to eat half, go outside, then finish his dinner) and after drinking water plus a few times in between. Since it's nice out I've been taking Sammy out after she eats and just staying outside for like 20 minutes until she is REALLY empty. Then I know I can let her run around for a while without worrying about it. |
Yeah, I'm not sure if it's me training her or her training me...:D I've been having to stay outside with her about 20-30 mins to get her to go most of the time lately. I'll shake the Cheerios bag and tell her to potty, then keep repeating "go potty" over and over. She does have worms again, so that's not helping in the poop department. I say she has them again, I guess I got rid of them the first time. I hadn't seen anymore until this morning. |
