They learned "speak" and won't stop barking My husband decided to teach our yorkies to "speak" for a treat. Well that part worked great....they bark and bark and bark when the want a treat now. It's like they are demanding a treat. The part he didn't teach them was "quiet" after the "speak" command. They are so annoying with their barking for a treat, I have tried ignoring them and also saying "quiet" when they quiet down. But as soon as I say "quiet" they start the insane barking again. Help...what do I do next to get them quiet???? |
Sorry, I just had to laugh! The title did it! I hope you find a resolution! |
Try "no speak" ?? |

Aww. That is too funny:eyetearss. I would praise them randomly when quiet. And ignore when barking. That wasn't the best trick for hubby to teach:) . Dior would bark at everything and every 1 and i use the banging pot method (thanks to a YT member) . It has worked so far. |
:lol tears -- I feel your pain. Try this backwards twist -- it might take a while for them to get the idea, but it'll work if you perservere..... When the dogs aren't barking tell them GOOD QUIET! and give them a treat. It would even be better if you can keep some treats in your pocket so that they will be handy -- GOOD QUIET and a treat..... GOOD QUIET and a treat. Then when they start barking tell them QUIET. When they stop barking then you guess it -- GOOD QUIET and a BIG TREAT!!! Good luck! |
Thank you so much for the suggestions. I am going to try them. These kids are driving their mom crazy!!! LOL |
