Crating Sophie Today I decided we really needed to start crating Sophie to get her potty trained. She's used to having free reign over the whole house, so I find little pees and poops all over(I usually step in her pee!). I was reading on this website http://leerburg.com/housebrk.htm . I thought what he wrote was helpful. But I hate to think about not spending a lot of time with Sophie out of the crate. Plus she cries just like a baby when she's in there and she sees me sitting on the couch. I love her dearly and I really am torn about how to go about the whole house training process. I keep reading others success stories with pee pads and using the scented spray on them. Any tips or advice?? |
hi when mine were her age, i used the crate method, the first 2 nights were the hardest, i wanted to keep taking them out , hubby woulndt let me. i would keep them in there crate for a couple hrs at a time during the day, then at night around 9ish untill 3am take them out to potty and right back in untill about 7am,it does get easier now i only use the crates if i have alot of company,i also bought 3 seperate crates so they each have there own:) good luck i know its hard in the beginning:) |
How old were your babies when you started them in a crate? My little boy Teddy (now 8 1/2 months old) came home at age 8 weeks and from the first night, he slept in a childs playpen and slept 11 hours straight. No accidents - it was great. So the transition from the playpen to a crate was absolutely no problem. My boy loves to sleep. I just got a little girl who just turned 4 months old. Right now she is in a ex pen (play yard) and she potties on the paper but is she too young to go in a crate at night? That is about the only time my babies are crated (also crated when we go out, when we eat). During the day, she goes out with Teddy and my other dogs but just not sure if she is too young to be crated at night. Thanks for any suggestions anyone can offer.:D |
