Do Bellybands work? Hi everyone! I've been seeing a lot about bellybands lately. Has anyone used them in house training? My little Rocko does wonderful when he's at work with me...but when he's home...he goes all over!! Any advice? |
they don't necessarily help with housetraining, but they DO prevent marking and peeing on the carpets/furniture. |

My Joey wears one anytime he is in the house. If we are gone and he can't come with us, he doesn't wear one in the crate and he doesn't 'go' in his crate either. |
They help with the marking issues in the house. However, I would not use this as a training method. |
I was thinking of putting one on him when he is in the house but when i see him sniffing, taking it off to put him on his pad... |
Belly Band Dilema As long as we are home, Bogey doesn't "go" inside, and most times when we leave him for an hour or two he still doesn't "go". If we know we'll be gone for four hours or more, we'll put the belly band on him, 'cause it's not fair to him to expect him to hold it for more than that. He knows when his band is put on him he gets his favorite treat (chicken) & doesn't seem to mind it. It's saved me a lot of work & trouble & I also use it if we go to another home with dogs present. If he lifts, at least I'm not embarrassed. |
Charlie wears one when I am at work, and I don't worry about marking or accidents. I made one for him out of doubled flannel, 4" wide and 2 inches larger around his belly measurement. Velcro at both ends, Prevail Plus inside and so easy. Need to make another so there is a spare. When we travel this summer, I will take one with me to ensure he doesn't piddle in my daughter's home since she has a dog and two cats. Good luck and Petco/Petsmart have them but didn't fit him properly. I searched on the internet for instructions and you could really use any material but I like flannel. |
PS I had to make two before I got the measurement correct. Time spent was just about 10 minutes in total. |
