WHen he was trained I stopped it. Just very small pieces to give them the flavor and they want it they get used to looking for it and want to go outdoors. Good luck, persistance is key.

This is very helpful for me too as I want to start crate training since he uses the pads he has not learned to hold it..

Carol, how old was your little one when u started this? I am just afraid he wont be able to it that long..

14 weeks. My crate was probably larger than it should have been but it
belonged to my daughter who has a min pin. I put his little bed in the back
and some toys in the front. He could turn around comfortably and lay sideways easily. He was able to hold his bladder all night from the beginning and peeed like a race horse at 6:ooam. I grabbed him and took him right out in the am. He had only a couple of accidents during the day in the very beginning. If your pup is younger I would take him/her out more until they reached three months. I took off the first week and was up and down all day so he would get the idea. He was from a pet store so had known nothing about the outdoors:(
Make sure water is given when they are out of the create. That is very
important.

As long as I keep taking Sadie out every couple of hours, she doesn't use the pads when I am home. But if I don't get her out in time, she will go on them. But as long as she's using them & not the carpet I'm ok with that. I never could get her to tell me when she has to go out. I tried the bell thing, but she just rang it all the time just to go out, whether she had to potty or not.
