Yet another Potty Training Question
 

Ok, this is a bit different.

Oreo & Ginger are potty trained for inside the house, on wee-pads. The thing is, I was wondering How I can teach Oreo, Ginger & Cloey to hold their bladder till the morning (to go outside).

I want to phase them out of the Wee-Pad, any Ideas? I've heard of ringing the bell, but how in the world would I go about that?

I just got Oreo & Ginger to sit! lol.. So i'm hoping to train them to hold their bladder through the night till wee early morning to go outside. (in the middle of the night, they jump down from the bed and go wee wee).

Any Ideas?

I think you move the pad closer to the door gradually. Once at the door, work on the bell thing.... I could be wrong though.

the thing is, they only stay in one room in my boyfriends house and the room is upstairs. We have a Cat and she's pretty old and feisty and would literally kill all my dogs if she could :eek: so we have to keep her away as much as possible.

at my house they are also confined to only my room, because my neice is allergic to them. I do take them out of course to roam around, but it'd be impossible for me to move the pad closer and closer to the door, and then gradually outside :p

How old are they? They can't usually hold their bladders through the night until 5 months of age. If they are over 5 months of age and they always pee on the pad, put the pad outside of the room they sleep in. Most likely, if they know they have to pee on the pad, they will hold until they see that pad!

If they are still under 5 months, a good method is to use the crate. Keep them in the crate all night long. They don't usually pee in the place they sleep. In the morning, take them to the pad (or outside). They start to catch on...

If you want them to eventually go potty outside, put the pad by the nearest exit in the house - it will make your life a lot easier because you will know when they have to go potty.

One last thing...I know some people do not agree with this since yorkie's are so small, but I have a 6 month 11 pound yorkie and I live in the city with few big birds so I have a doggy door. That was the best thing that ever happended our house. Now I don't have to worry about potty mistakes. My Stomper boy ALWAYS goes outside. I still give him treats when I see him go potty outside. I'll probably do that until he is 1 years old to make sure he is fully potty trained!

Just out of curiousity...how is your neice allergic to them?!!! They have hair not fur. I've never heard of people being allergic to dogs with hair. Pleae let me know. I'm curious!

She was a premature baby (born a month early) and her immune system isn't as well as yours and mine. She is allergic to A lot of things. even trees :eek: I know they have hair not fur, I can't explain why she's allergic, i'm not a genius by all means. She doesn't get the usual itchy eyes when people are allergic. She gets really bad and needs to be hospitalized because her airway swells up. So she's not allowed to touch them.

But it's most likely she's allergic to Oreo. He's half yorkie half pomeranian and his hair is more like the pomeranian. so maybe that would be why? hope that helps.

Im having potty training concerns also. Gucci was doing so good but lately she is being having accidents. She pees on the pad 85% of the time now. That is a drop cause she was using it without accidents. Poo is another story. She poos on the pad 80% of the time, sometimes she kjust poos by my hubby's side of the bed on the floor. We have clean the area with vinegar solution and also the products you by at the pet store but she still does it. I have being watching her and when I see her sneefing around I take her to the pad, sometimes she goes and others she just walks away. I praise her everytime she uses the pee pads and when I see her doing in the wrong spot I take her to the pad. I dont know what else to do. I give her treats which sometimes works and others dont. I also thinking to start training her to go potty outside. We live in apt bldg so the option for a doggy door is not possible. I notice she started having more accidents since her first heat last month, I wonder it is related. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance.

At least you are lucky your babies are 100% pee pad train. Good luck in training them to go outside. Im so sorry that your niece gets so bad allergic reaction. PLease let me know wh at works for you.
