Help! Peeing Problem! Sophie is about 5 months old now, and she's a premee[sp?] But she refuses to go outside or in the "dog litter" box. The breeder trained her on papers and thats all she'll do. We just want her to pee in the box mainly, but she keeps eating the pellets! Sophia is a very smart dog, she's slowly learning sit, stay, come, and lie down on the "click" system. So, I expected she'd be easy to train outside, we've had her for about a month an a half.. Am I doing something wrong? |
Maybe you could put a pee pad/paper in the litter box at first so she can get used to going in there. Or you can put a pee pad/paper outside until she understands the concept. Good luck! |
I put the pee pad outside and she has not had an accident (knock on wood) in over 4 weeks! Give it a try, you have nothing to lose!:aimeeyork |

My Cooper is now completely trained to outside, however, when he was a pup I used the litterbox. I cut down the size of the littlerbox so he could walk into it versus hoping into it, I made sure that I didn't have any rough edges, then he also ate the pellets and didn't like the feel of them so I ended up cutting a peepad down to size to fit in the bottom of the litterbox and he used it that way. I would say he hit it 99pc of the time. Occassionally, there would be a little poo outside the box but next to it. I think because if you ever observe your dog they might poo, then walk a few steps and poo again, whereas the litterbox only has so much space. good luck. Kathy |
Thanks! Everyone, I'll definitaly remember that. ^^;; And I'll try all your tips. :] |
