too hyper of a dog Harley is extremely HYPER... and I don't just mean for a little while at a time, I mean constantly, unless it is just me and her. If it is just her and I, if I tell her no or to lay down she will with no problem, but... If ANYONE (dog or person) is around she goes wild... She will constantly pull at her leash, jump on them, lick them crazy, she basically will do a back flip jumping up and down. No matter how much I scold her, she doesn't quit, she actually ignores me.... she acts as if she cannot even hear me speak. I really need help with this issue, she is literally driving me crazy. I cannot handle her being like this, granted she is only 5 mo old, but still. Someone, please help. |
I have the very same problem w/my lhasa Tallulah. She's about 6 months old... I try to tire her out before guests come over or I give her a bully stick and she ignores everyone lol. It's a work in progress though.. on walks all three wil howl like crazy at everyone/thing. Good luck! |
I know what you mean...My little grandbaby goes 90 mph. Iam off today so I met my daughter to pick her up (for visitation) lol and she was going crazy in the car attacking me. I love that she is so excited to see me, but it takes her forever to chill out. She has to run all over my house checking everything out, making sure she drags all of her toys out, beats up my boxer, etc. Its just us here and she is just now calming down. |
I'm trying (now that the weather is nice) to tire them out to the max! That is if I hold up! :D I've read that a lot of behavioral problems are caused by too much energy just held inside. So, I am going to try and give - especially Tinka - lots more walks - fast ones. She goes crazy, too when people come over. Last time I kept her on a least inside till she settled down a bit, but I think tiring them out before hand is probably a really good idea! |
Does Harley get enough exercise and/or does he spend any time playing outdoors? My little guy has hyper times, but I can get him to listen really well. He's a little older than Harley though, he's 9 mos. old. Maybe try taking him for a couple walks if you can. Or, if that's not possible, have a few playtimes with him where he will get worn out. They need lots of exercise to run off all that energy lol |
Mine can get pretty hyper too. I've found that the thing that tires them out the most is playing with other dogs. So going to the dog park really wears them out. I try and stay there for at least 1.5 hours. When we get home, they sleep for a few hours. |
I think at 5 mths. old, the pups are just not all that capable of focusing - they're just so overly excited and of the moment. If she is being too out of control for you, you could try putting her in her crate or a smaller area that is away from you. When she calms down, bring her back into the social scene, see how she does. Hyper again, put her alone again. Wait until calm, try again. You get the gist... |
she gets plenty of exercise, we live in the country so she is outside a lot.. also we have another dog that she plays with but she just has a constant hyperness... she is a spazz hah... it's just so aggravating because ppl don't like her b/c of her hyperness... and to me, thats not liking my own kid.... its depressing!! |
