Help! Chloe is my alarm clock! Hello! We have a 4 1/2 month old adorable yorkie girl named Chloe. She is very smart and is really getting the potty training down well now. But she has gotten in the habit of "yapping" every morning around 6:00 am. (Today it was 5:30)!!! She sleeps in the laundry room with our other yorkie mix, so she is not lonely or scared. During the week, I get up at 6:am every morning for work, so we thought she was hearing me (our room is right next to the laundry room) - and she would start barking to let me know "I'm in here...let me out!" But even on weekends, she starts "alerting" us soooooooo early. What can we do to teach her that she needs to be QUIET in there until WE decide to let her out? Is it just a matter of her getting older to learn this? Our other little yorkie mix learned it - she is 6 years old! Thanks for any advice. Pam, Chloe, Lily, and Molly(the big dog!) |
Chwoe! Wet Pamewa sweep on da weekends...'cept if you have to tee tee! Wuv, Wexy :p |
Same problem here - Mare wakes up at 6 o'clock every morning. Now I have started to simply ignore her (she sleeps in our bed and jumps on my chest and kisses me). That has - after 2 weeks actually made her wake up at 7 instead - and that's ok, cause that is worktime anyway... |
We have the opposite prob here. When I have to get up early, Luig still wants to stay in bed and sleep.!!!! He is not a morning dog. Like me- I hate getting up too early. I have to bring his food into the bedroom with us, to entice him, then he;ll get up. But he has to stretch every part ofhis little body before he eats!!! He loves his sleep!!!! We usually go to bed around 11 pm, and its nothiong for him to sleep in til noon hte next day if he could!!!! He's sooo wierd!!! :p |
Just wanted to say that I feel sorry for you. Stewie will sleep as long as I do. We actually just woke up (noon). He sleeps in my bed though, so I don't know if that has anythign to do w/ it. |

He's 7 mos. Maybe that also has something to do with it. If he has to potty, he'll jump down and go to his pee pad and go, then jump back in . He's just like me ;) he can sleep all day and night. |
I'll join the club with you because Gazou also think he is an alarm clock . |

Hey, maybe you could help me with something... How did you get the picture of your yorkie under your name? I would love to have a picture of Chloe and Lily next to my name! Thanks for your help! |
I can surely relate to your "alarm clock" situation!! For the 1st few months with Sedrick he felt that 3 am was a good time to wake up!! After a few weeks of this early rising, I realized that he was getting too much sleep during the day so I would send him over to a friends house and he would keep him up during the afternoon and not let him sleep more than needed. This did help and allowed me to sleep until 5 am and then the final saving grace was when the time moved forward an hour in spring!! |
Hi Pamela! BeanSprout does the same thing. I think it is cool though.... We spend a few minutes together, and then I take him out to do his "business." The morning/middle of thye night is the only time that I can count on him going outside, so I try to maximize it. I figure, after a while it will sink in.... I hear they like consistency! Look on the bright side. You are gettingmore time to enjoy your day. I think that I will start using the extra hour and 1/2 to workout. |

My baby sleeps in bed with us, and about 4 times every morning he will try to crawl up in my face and wake me up by licking me. I usually just put him on the floor, and it ends for about an hour. He then climbs back up and tries again. But when I do eventually get up, he doesn't want to come with me! |
Sleep, Whats Sleep? :animal-sm MASON IS 3 MONTHS OLD AND WAKES UP EVERY 4 HOURS. I TRIED HIM IN THE PEN. NOW HE TOOK OVER OUR BED AND STILL WAKES UP EVERY FOUR HOURS. THEN WHEN WE GET UP, HE WANTS TO SLEEP. WHAT SHOULD I DO? |
I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLYYY ONEEE!! lol We've been having that problem with Fred. He was barking in his crate so we decided that it might be US waking him up so we shifted his crate out to a dining room by the kitchen. Before, he used to bark everyday at the same time: 7:15AM. This week, he started barking an hour earlier!! We think that it's because he sees sun outside the window and thinks that since the sun is up, maybe the whole household is up too! He keeps barking and barking! If noone lets him out, he'll go at it for an hour or however long it takes! (We tried timing him) It's driving my boyfriend crazy! I wonder if there's anything we can do? |
