Door Scratching - what to do? Hi to my YT experts! My Molly scratches at the door to go in and out. Now that doesn't sound bad, I want her to let me know when she has to go, but I live with my son and DIL and my DIL hates it when she scratches on the door. I don't blame her at all - she's scratching the door a lot. Now when she scratches on the INSIDE, I say no and she stops and comes over to me and whines to go out. That's fine - I'm OK with that. But, when she's OUTSIDE she runs to the door and scratches like we've never let her in before. When I go to the door, I make her sit before she comes in, but it hasn't stopped that initial stratching! Anybody have any good ideas about how to stop that scratching? Thanks! Kathy |
I'v heard about alot of people hanging a bell on the door and the dogs bump it with their nose letting the owner know they want to go in and out. Maybe you can try that, since she is already scratches at the door. |
Wow, that's a good question. I understand your dilemma. Is your living arrangement permanent, or temporary. If it's temporary I guess you could offer to repair the door before you move, if it's permanent that's a tough one. There are metal grates that you can put on storm doors to protect the screens. Is that an option? |
i too would like to hear more on this topic...if any YT member can offer a solution...it would be helpful... i don't have much of a problem with the inside..but from outside they go crazy...ekke |
