Potty Training Question:) Holly is potty trained to go outside and/or on a pad inside. We got her when she was already 6 mos old and this is how they trained her. However our Lola we got as a baby and I have been trying to train her to go exclusively outside. Holly was doing great and going outside only UNTIL it started getting hot outside. Now she will go out and pee...but she wants to come inside right away and does not like standing out long enough to poop. I think this is confusing Lola. Because now I have to put Potty Pads inside for Holly and Lola sees her pottying on them and now Lola thinks it is ok to potty inside again. The problem is Lola does not use the pads. LOL. Any suggestions? We were 90-99%(depending on the day lol) trained and now this:( Darn HEAT! |
I really don't think that one dog is confused by seeing another dog potty in the house. they know what they know. How old is Lola. They sometimes do regress a bit from time to time. Then you need to go back to basics. House breaking is 2 steps forward and 1 step back. Just keep working on it. |
Lola is only 4 months:P Should I just remove the pads from inside...or start potty pad training Lola? |
That is totally up to you. Four months is very young. What happens is they know that it is good to potty oputside, but they don't know that it is not good to potty inside. So untill you catch them doing it, they are clueless. And just because they know they cannot potty in one room, does not mean that they know they are not supposed to potty in another room. Every room, every house is a whole new world. It can get frustrating, it requires a lot of patience. |
Keep working on it, you'll get there. Mine are not proper potty trained yet so can't help with any advice. Sorry |
