Wee-Wee Padd Training Hi, my yorkie is 16 weeks old and since day 1 had no trouble using the pee-pee pads. Then all of the sudden about 2 weeks ago, she decided that she didn't want to use them anymore. I thought it was because I had to buy an emergency pack of pads that were different from the ones that she had been using, but I don't think that is the case. Everytime I catch her going I say "no" and pick her up and put her on a pad. Sometimes if the pad is in a different room she will pee and stop while I am saying 'no' and run to the pad and sit next to it and look at it. Like she is trying to tell me, "i know, I know, I was supposed to go here" but she does it continuously. Or at night I put her in a open crate right next to my bed and she will go everywhere but the pads. am I missing something here? Can anyone offer any advice on how to help break her bad habit? |
Maybe the new pads threw her off. Try dabbing her pee on the pad so she can smell it on there, it will make her want to go there again. You can do the same for poop. Hope this helps!;) |
Thank you for trying to help, Here is another thing. Since day 1 if there is the littlest bit of pee, she will not use that pad. She will only use the pad for 1 pee and that's it. |
She just doesn't get it, keep trying. Eventually it will click. I just went through the same thing with my two. They were doing so well about going outside, we have a doggie door, then all of a sudden it doesn't seem to matter to them where they go. So have now confined them to the laudry area, where they doggie door is, instead of giving them the entire kitchen. we'll see if that helps, Today, so far so good. |
My girls are only 11 weeks old and we are trying to pee pad train them. Zsa-Zsa seems to get the idea and will use the pad 90% of the time but Eva - forget it. She will go to the pad sniff and then walk off the pad and urinate. They are so tiny and we still have cooler, wet weather so going outside on a regular basis isn't ideal so the pads seem like the best plan. I just keep putting down the pads, encouraging them and rewarding good behavior. Just be patient with her - it will come. |
