How is the most effective way to scold......... your baby/? Usually I say No! or Off! and make a loud noise by clapping showing him what is he suppose to do, chew, etc. ( i NEVER hit or pat them bad) and Then I walk away from him. Is this ok? How do we let them know effectively that they did wrong? so that they will dare to do it again? Share your tips. Thank you all! |
ACK, works for us, or you can just make a hissing noise. No need to yell or scold or say a word. They go by actions anyway and they know when your not pleased. ;) |
if Layla gets into something i say "leave it" in a serious tone.. thanks to obedience she knows leave it! it's been a lifesaver... we also say AH AH AH loud... gets her attention and then she forgets what she was after :p |
beat him with a big belt! lol jk.. i usually just say a loud NO too ;) |
How big of a belt should I use. LOL I usually say "no" with a serious tone, if that doesn't work, my dog goes in the crate. |
If I really need to get Mines attention I clap My hands loudly |
My husband's big booming "NO NO" is usually enough...And then he picks them up a minute later, and in his sweetest voice tells them, "if you do that again, I'm going to spank your furry little butt!", though he never would :p I personally use the "Ttsssst!" noise that the Dog Whisperer uses, since my "NO NO" isn't as forceful as his :) Also, we use the "Scruff" on the back of the neck-just pull firmly, but not hard, enough to get their attention when they're really naughty. Usually they know they're naughty, and before they get scruffed, and they will both submit immediately and roll on their backs, as if to say-"I know, I'm naughty Mommy. I'm vewy sorry, and I will twy not to do it again. Pwease wub my belly and don't be mad!" It's so cute, I can hardly resist! |
Usually all Jack needs to hear is a firm "No" said in a flat and firm tone. As a communications major I learned that only 10% of your message is what you say and 90% is how you say it. Just use a tone of voice you don't normally use and your fur baby will get the idea they did something wrong. Someone mentioned placing the dog in their crate. This didn't work for me since Jack started to think it was a place he goes to get punished and would no longer sleep or rest in there. |
I agree, there is no need to yell. It was once said that women make the best trainers because we have so much inflection in our voices. When I want to tell my girls to do something because their misbehaving I use a very low stern voice and broaden my shoulders. Body language is everything! I can sometimes just point and position my body a certain way and they stop immediately. |
I use the shhhhhst sound to (i'm actually doing it right now to see how to spell it hahahahahahaha i'm a dork i know) with Daisy i clap my hands she listens better with that. BTW that belt comment OMG i was laughing so hard at that it was a good one:thumbup: |
I use a "bah" or "ah" noise, it's very abrupt and I can get a lot of emphasis into it. Sometimes I'll use a disappointed "oh" if I'm disappointed - it's amazing how much effect that can have! |
"Uh uh" works for me. |
