Potty Train? You mean you can train them? LOL JK. I used pee pads before I put in the doggy door. Now with my two new ones I'm working on them just going outside. they do fine with the doggy door, but they don't always go out to potty. It's hit and miss. But we're working on it. Today I had to clean my area rug that is under my kitchen table. so from now on I believe they will be confined to the laundry area which is where the doggie door is. Hopeully after a couple of weeks, they'll be better about it. |
i understand picking her up and getting her outside to where she can poop when making a mistake, but what if we still have to wait for the elevator and go all the way down... do you think she'll still remember what we're trying to do by the time we get outside??? |

with morgan i kept her in the ex-pen while eating and for a half hour after eating. Then we went directly outside and i stood there and waited and waited and waited for her to pee and poop. after that we went back inside for a treat and play time. When she lost interest in directly playing with me and started wandering i would put her back in the crate for another hour or two and then take her back out again. too much roaming time leads to too many accidents. |
hi!! i got my little guy when he was 3months and now, he's almost 4 months. the lady that we got him from said he would pee on the pee pad, but he didnt. we left pee pads everywhere and he never once peed on the pee pad. so, the next day, we started to potty train him outside. its been almost a month i've had him and he's showing some improvement. he is not allow to run freely in the house if he has not gone peepee or poopoo outside. when he does both, i let him run around the house for about 15-20 mins, then back in the crate or on my bed. i still have to keep an eye on him though. |
we have no problem with peepee if we are watching him but he will refuse to go poop outside sometimes. i will catch him just about to do it and i will run him outside |
i only keep skoshi pinned up if no one is at home and i have to leave. otherwise i cant keep him locked up! |
Lots of great ideas here. In anything you are trying to teach the little ones, Praise, praise, praise, patience, patience and more patience. When that one day comes (and it is a different day for every one it seems) when it dawns on you that your little furbutt is completely house broken, you'll know it was all worth it. And Misty this just made me RFLOL!!!!! "This took some time to get my husband to understand. He'd say, well, it's too late, she's already got the turd half out of her butt. It doesn't matter. Startle and re-direct." |
