Help ME! Hello everyone! I am a new Yorkie mom and have found some interesting things on the website. I have a question...My puppy can be out of her kennel for many, many hours after she eats, but she won't poop on her pad...She will wait until I put her in the kennel. Why is that? How can I stop her from doing that? Thanks, Jamie |
Hi and WELCOME! I would get to know her pooping schedule, like find out what times she goes, and around that time, take her to her pad and just have her be there until she goes. I used to baracade Coco around the pad and sit there with her, so she knew I was there, and I would keep saying "Do your business" until she finally got it. Goodluck! |
My pup doesn't go poopers until WAY after. The only schedule that I DO know is that he goes right away in the morning, and one time in the afternoon, and once before bed, but it isn't set to when he eats at all!!!! My 4 month old knows the word now just from repeating it a MILLION times. He had a few accidents in the house, and I would bring his poopers over to the RIGHT PLACE (which for us is OUTSIDE) and repeat "POOPERS" over and over and now he knows the word poopers and usually does it on command at certain times a day (for example if he hadn't gone his second "poopers" by 4 pm, I would say "Go POOPERS" and he would then go). If he poops in the wrong place like his kennel.........gather it up with KLEENEX and put it where you want it to go. I always caught him in the act, YELLED "NO" and gathered it up and brought it outside and said "POOPERS OUTSIDE" Good luck, it worked for us. I am so proud of my lil guy..................he actually has gone over to the door the last few days (4 times) and then he went potty outside, it's been a LOT OF CONSISTENCY AND WORK, but hopefully I am reaping the rewards!!!!:D |

Maybe your puppy needs privacy to go poopie. Like children, some dogs like to hide when they poop. try putting a cardboard box over the pad with a little cut out for the pup to get in... a makeshift litter box. This will make her feel hidden... |
You could try a different kennel to see if she poos in that one also. |
