those that crate your puppy at night.... I have a question for you-when you get up to let them out-either in the middle of the night or in the morning... do you find that they get so excited to be let out that they piddle a bit in their crate???? I had this with both of my yorkie and my 2 yr old is starting to grow out of it, but my little one is so bad by the time i get a hold of her, she has already gone mostly in her kennel-I've tried sneaking up, bending down and not towering over her, but it's so frustrating, -grrr.... just wondered if i happen to have the two weird little excited peeing yorkies or if you guys have this too :( and if anyone has any other suggestions or ideas (besides trying to bend down lower than the kennel-which is tough and not reach over them-reach under and not making eye contact and not talking to them -) |
hey! well we've never had that problem.. but the space you are letting them sleep in is very small right??? because if is is they really shouldnt want to pee in there... so maybe you need to make the space small... or can you bring the crate outside with you and open it up to let them out... take you out of the process.. maybe they are too excited to see you and pee.. but if you bring the crate outside and let them walk out.. they might not pee?? |
I took mine out in the middle of the night until he was 8 months old.So, I took him out at 10:00 pm and then 2:00 am. We were up for good at 6:00 am. He never messed in his crate after the first few get acquainted days. At 8 months, I tried him all night since I was getting a little tired of the routine. He did fine and now goes thru the night at 11 months. Never has an accident either from being crated too long or from excitement. |
Wish I could help, but I've never had mine go in their crate. Guess I'm just one of the lucky ones. Maybe try getting up a little earlier to let them out to potty. |
Harvey Went In His Crate From Day 4 Of Getting Him. He Sleeps In The Kitchen Downstairs. He Goes To Bed At About 2am And Then I Let Him Out At 7.30-8 Am, I Have Never Got Up With Him - He Has Always Slept Through The 6-7 Hours He Is In Crate. But If I Sleep In Later He Will Wee On The Pad That Takes Up Half The Crate, Which Is Totally My Own Fault, His Bed Is One Side And Pee Pad The Other (this Works For Us, But I Have Heard You Should Only Give Them Small Sleeping Space In Crate...). He Is 1 Now And Though I Cant Say He Loves His Crate - He Goes To Bed Without Much Fuss. |
