My chopstix hates being in his crate!!! My baby chopstix is 3 months. we've had him for a week now and he hates being in his crate! he whines, cries and barks. It even worst at night. I feel so bad when he's in there, i dont want him to think we're punishing him, but we're trying to get him to get used to sleeping in there and staying in there when we're not home. Has anyone been through the same problem? and how long did it take your baby to get used to it? |
Is he close enough that he can see you? I put Hoku's crate right next to my bed at night and when she cried I stuck my fingers through the gate and she would lay on top of them and fall right to sleep:) |
Oh, and during the day when I left her in the crate I would put her on my bed and turn the t.v. on to Animal Planet. She'd fuss for a bit but then settle down. After the first week she got very used to her crate and didn't fuss at all:) |
I dont mind him sleeping in his crate in my room, but my mom dont approve of him sleeping in my room, so she puts him in the kitchen. I told her he whines and barks because he dont want to be left alone, but she still insist he sleeps in his crate in the kitchen. |
I also put Venus's crate next to my bed, and she slept instead of whining all night. She'd still get me up 2x at night to go out. I had her about a week, when I did this. She just didn't like sleeping so far away from me. |
i might have to sneak him in at night. |
Your baby is a pack animal. They feel anxious when they are isolated from the pack particularly when they are first taken from their litter, and you're the pack for your baby now. If you can, keep your puppy in your room at night. Why does your mom not want you to have your puppy in your room? It's certainly easier to hear if the puppy needs to get out to pee. As it is now, the puppy views the crate as a prison instead of a safe haven. Can you explain to your mom that your puppy needs to be with you just when it's little and then as it gets to be bigger it won't be an issue? |
my mother isnt an animal person. she feels dogs shouldnt be kept in the house. But there's no way i would let my chopstix outside!! Yea, i figured he doesnt like to be alone. When i got him, he was with his brother. RIght now, he's in my room. i think he's getting used to his crate. he hasnt made a sound yet. |
That's good. Hopefully your mother will change her mind once she sees how much better he does in your room:) |
Chopstix did fine last night, he slept through the night. but his whines woke me up at 8 in the morning, he needed to go potty! |
Sleeping till 8 a.m. is great! Congratulations on getting a good night's rest:) |
your mother needs to understand that you have a baby. What does she care if the dog is in your room ? its not hers right? the dog IS NOT allowed outside at such a tender age and w/o proper shots |
