lap pooper?
 

Hello everyone! I am new to this forum and would like to introduce myself. My yorkie is 8 months old and her name is babybella! She is only 2 1/2 pounds and is simply adorable. After much research and a alot of nights searching for the perfect pup I finally found her in West Viriginia. I drove five hours to get her because I didn't want to ship her..(she was only 13 oz. when I got her) She is the love of my life....but there is one problem!!! She like a LOT of others has been a nightmare trying to housebreak!! I have read a ton of threads on problems with housebreaking but...my little one will even poop in my lap!!! Yes that is right..she will without warning just poop right in my lap..Please help me!! Of course she poops everywhere else too..and pees everywhere else as well, which drives me crazy but in my lap I can not take!! I will have taken her outside and she will do her business, but it seems like I have to take her out every ten or fifteen minutes to stop accidents. She is crate trained since I got her..but I am starting to feel really bad because she is spending more and more time in the crate because I am so frustated...Please help anyone have any answers....

LOL! I use to have a mini dachshund (a long time ago) that would poop on my husband's chest. He was supposed to be watching him and needless to say never did. So when my husband played his video games he's crawl up on his chest and poop. I came out of the office one day wondering: "What is that smell" I look down at my husband who is laying on the ground and there is a pile of poop. He did this to him three times! That's what he gets for not watching him! I thought he was the only one would poop on people like that!

When you are home watch her like a hawk. What I have done when raising my girls is I used the umbilical cord method. Sounds funny but attach their harness to a leash and attach this leash to you (whether it be a belt loop or your foot). Therefore everywhere you go your baby must follow and doesn't necessarily give them the run of the house. Also, it helps when you see them about to pop a squat you can quickly take them outside without having to worry about chasing them down and getting the leash and harness ready. Keep an eye on her at all times. If you can not watch her like a hawk put her in her crate or an x-pen (although I prefer a crate). Watch for the sniff and circle routine and take her immediately outside when she does this. Praise her like a maniac when she does the deed outside (with treats or simply praise). However, if after several minutes she does not go and you know she needs to confine her to her crate for a few minutes and try again. Once she goes outside attach her leash back to you and repeat all of the above. Also, I would not free feed and make sure to take food and water up at the same time every night. If your dog is on a schedule you will be more apt to know what their potty schedule is. It's going to take time, patience and consistency but it can be done!

well what i did with my yorkie is set up a small gated area outside specifically for potty time. every couple of hours i would take him outside and leave him in there for about 5 minutes then check on him and if he went, praise him like crazy. if he had an accident inside, i would put him very near the poop or pee so he would know why i was mad, try to put their nose as close as possible to it, BUT NEVER IN IT (thats just mean and unsanitary) and then say "NO!!" a couple of times very forcefully and instantly take him to his potty area and leave him there for 5 minutes or however long it took me to clean up the mess. he was potty trained by 8 or 9 months.

Wee Wee Pad
 

I, too have a Yorkie your size and your age.... We have the wee wee pad in our house and she had 2 accidents in her life.... Even when she is eating or playing, she will stop abruptly and go to her wee wee pad. She has been roaming around in the apartment for the past several weeks and often we wake up to her pooo on the wee wee pad. When she first succeeded, we gave her a treat ( they like honey comb ) and we prased her a lot. After associating praise and reward, it only took her that day to learn where to pee and poo...
