not sure Ok... so My wife and I are possibly going to get a yorkie/mix for Briggs shelter in WV. She is 4 yrs old and 15 lbs and very adorable... but that's no the problem... From what i could gather is that her original owners put her in there cuase of a pee problem... I truthfully think that the orginal owners didnt try everything... or if they did they didnt try the right thing long enough they probably confused her more than anything. But my thoughts are we have 5 people living in the house (all adult family members) someones almost always home. So if we do end up getting her she'll always have someone to let her out to go pee. If not if it conflicts with everyones work schedule i was going to bring her to a kennel for the few hours i wouldnt be home. but we have a yard and stuff but i dont want her to be outside in the cold for now. I've talked to about 4-6 trainers about this problem and they said that the other family probably didnt try much at all. i know your have to be consistent i dont think the other owners were consistent with the training. but overall her temperment seems good. we spent 2 hours visiting with her yesterday and all she did was explore the room and visit with me and my wife. she seems like a real sweety and she didnt bark at all. she seemed to need a little bit of leash training... but we've all ready planned on have obedience classes with her or whatever dog we end up getting anyways... any input is good and feel free to ask any questions ty adam vaughn |

My post will probably be different from everyone else, but here is my opinion: if you're not sure, don't do it! You need to be 100% sure before you commit yourself to this potential problem. It's nice to assume that the previous owners "didn't try everything", but unless you've talked to them, you don't know that for a fact. This dog may be one of those who is extremely hard to house-break. It happens. While your living arrangements sound good, are you sure that all 5 adults are "on the same page" about house-breaking methods? Is everyone willing to take the pup out - and stay out with her(even in the rain) - hourly? Do you all agree on a training method? If so, what is it? If not everyone agrees, you need to spend some more time talking about this until everyone agrees. |

I just got Pixie a 13 month old untrained dog and the first 2 days I thought I had made a big mistake. She peed anywhere and many times. After some good advice on here and falling totally in love with her I went back to trating her like a new puppy. She was watched at all times and when I had to go out I put herin her pen. I started out with 12 wee wee pads and watched her like a hawk everytime she went she got a little treat and a BIG deal was made. She has doen great, Now 4 weeks later she almost always uses the pads and I am down to 3 pads down. I think consistency and watching like a hawk will train almost any dog. Good luck |
she's so adorable but the only drawback is the house broken part but i totally think we can get her through it even if it takes a year (plz no) but she has the best temperment for our family. |
Be sure to post some pictures when you get her! |
