I want Ceramic!! And hopefully I will be getting it, but could never be soon enough for me! I think Venus has ruined my carpet! I give up completely! I know how to install ceramic, so I will do it myself. Although this won't be much fun, lol.. I want ceramic in my living room, kitchen and hall! This carpet has got to go!! Seems all I have to do is blink and there's a pile of poop somewhere in the living room. Seems though she's learned a plain old rug from carpet now, and quit messing up the rugs. I could have my entire carpet with pee pads, and she'd find just one little spot, and go there instead. |
I know what you mean. I want to replace with ceramic and hardwood too. My husband and I were just talking yesterday about the carpet. We decided when/if these two ever get completely house-trained we will have to remove all the carpet and pad ourselves, cause it will be too embarrassing for anyone else to see what I am sure is underneath. I am holding my breath today --- no accidents yet. Maybe the nice weather will work for me here. They do love to go outside. |
LOL. I had that same problem when Mr. Biggs was a puppy. Eventhough now he tends to "mark his teritory" on the carpet whenever we have other dogs over. Carpet + dogs = DO NOT MIX! lol I feel your pain -Christina |
If you guys are seriously thinking about tile, may I make a suggestion? Stay away from ceramic. Go with either porcelain or slate. The main reason is that ceramic has a terra-cotta colored base with a glaze over it. Drop something the wrong way and off comes a chip of the color. Porcelain and slate are the same color all the way through. Porcelain is about the same price, however, slate will set you back a bit more. It all depends on the color you're looking for. In addition, make sure to seal the grout VERY WELL. Dog urine is contains a lot of oil and it can change the color of your grout, especially if you choose a lighter color. There are sealants out there, however, I haven't found one worth recommending. I'm going to try sealing my bathroom tile with polyurethane. Not sure how it will work, but it's worth a try. Seriously though...my son just had to have tile on their living room floor (because of their dogs) and after they got it done they hated it. The kitchen and hall wouldn't have been so bad but they wished they had put laminate or wood flooring in the living room...the biggest complaint was that it was cold and things would break when dropped on the floor and with a 2 year old that happens alot! |
My male yorkie did the same thing so we went with ceramic. Um um um um ! The things we do for our furbabies. |
I have to laugh at this topic. I have a 2800 sq.ft. house with 3/4 of it Hardwood (teak) and Porcelain floors. Neither of my little babies have ever had an accident on either surface! They manage to seek out the few carpeted rooms, the throw rugs, etc. Really cracks me up. Heaven forbid they relieve themselves on an "easy to clean" surface! :confused: My babies are houstrained and for the most part really good. Their "accidents" always happen in the middle of the night. Don't know how to train them to wake me if they have to go. Any one with any ideas??? |
