frustrated here.... Ok, I have two - one year olds and a 16 week old - all Yorkies, all female. One of the older ones is getting quite snotty. She growls and gets in the way when the other dogs are coming in the house. If another dog is near me, she immediately runs over and shoves her way in between me and the other dog. (or at least tries to) She sometimes even growls when I pet one of the other dogs. I'm afraid that she may get really mean. When I see these behaviors I give her a firm NO but it doesn't seem to phase her. Any ideas of what to do and why she is doing this? thanks, omega |
I have an attention seeker too. When I goo to pet or love on Chachi she gets up iin front of him and pushes him out of the way just like you describe. She hasnt growled at him except one time when he jumped up to lay down beside me when she was laying down beside me. When she does push Chachi out of the way I tell her no and get Chachi and give him some attention. It hasnt stoped the behavior so I am interested in the responses you get but i dont think you have a mean dog just an attention seeker. Maybe she was better suited in a house with no other dogs. Thats what I thought about Jewels. She has gotten better in time though |
I do wonder though Chachi and Jewels play. Does your girl ever play with the other dogs? |

I got her when she was 6 months old and she WAS from a home where she was the only animal. I've had her for 8 months now and at first it was fine, but she seems to be getting worse as time goes on. |
she does play, but it usually turns into a growling match! she would much rather be the queen and be within 2 inches of me at all time. the other two play much better together. it is kind of funny though, when all three get going and run circles around the couch, chasing each other and growling and/or barking... |
Anyone else deal with this in the past or present???? |
