Pooping during the night I am new to yorkie talk and love all the information!:p Bella is one today and is still pooping during the night. :( She always pees outside and will poop outside during the day but poops almost every night in the house. She will wake me up to pee but not to poop. I feed her at 7am and have tried multiple times for her dinner (4pm to 7pm) but it doesn't seem to matter. Any suggestions? :scratchhe :animal-pa |
does she get taken out right before you head to bed for the last time? |

Welcome to YT. It might just be a routine habit by now. does she sleep with you? Maybe you could try putting her in a crate in your room. |
if you are putting her in a crate at night make sure it is small so she can only turn around in it she might have to much room in there and thats why she is pooping. Also make sure she goes before bed |
Go for a walk before bedtime. |
I let her out right before I go to bed, around 10pm; but she only pees.:( She sleeps in our bed or with my 4 yr. old son. She'll come get me to go out to pee even when she sleeps with my son, just not to poop! I tried crating her at night when we first got her (at 8wks) but she hated it and just whined. My heart couldn't take it so I let her sleep with me and she just loved it!! (and so did I!) I still crated her during the day when I wasn't home until she got older. I don't crate her at all anymore, she never pees when I gone. I'm a stay at home mom so I'm home most of the time.:) How long should I wait outside with her right before bed? I live in VA so it's pretty cold at night. She doesn't like it when it's really cold or raining, even though I put coats on her. She'll pee even though it's cold or raining but won't stay out long enough to poop.:scratchhe |
I don't know if I have an answer that is feasible to you, but even though my pup is only 10 weeks he already has a disignated POO area, and if it's cold here in MN esp at night, when I take him out, we typically just go in the pee area, but if I know that it's close to his poo-duty time or that he's OVER-due for pooing, I actually put him in that designated poo area (I always keep a few of his poos in this area, so that he smells them) and within a few minutes he's circleling around and going. I am SOOOO not a person who knows, heck I have only had mine for a little over 2 weeks, but it seems to be working for me:D Heidi |
